Rocky Mountain Vertex Carbon Fiber Cross Country Bike
Rocky Mountain Bicycles humbly began in the basement of a Vancouver British Columbia bike shop, in 1981. The employees first imported bikes to sell to their customers. Later, they began manufacturing and importing frames to their exact specifications. Rocky Mountain now produces mountain bikes, road bikes, and urban bicycles. The company has come quite a ways from their modest beginning; however, their core values have never wavered. Rocky Mountain Bicycles is just as sought after now as they were in 1981.
The Rocky Mountain Vertex is a race tuned 29er Cross Country bike. Rocky Mountain tested many different geometry configurations to find the best race geometry for a variety of terrains. It has been said that 29er bikes can’t handle technical terrain; Rocky Mountain feels that the Vertex can. With a tighter wheelbase of 1087mm (medium) and a chainstay length of 437mm, the vertex is able to tackle some tight and technical terrain. Along with this tight wheelbase and chainstay, Rocky Mountain has brought in the top tube lengths. Doing so effectively makes the Vertex feel more like a 26” bike. The Rocky Mountain Vertex is a hard tail 29er Cross Country bike. The lack of a rear suspension makes the Vertex handle more responsive. Rocky Mountain has crafted the Vertex with less bottom bracket drop. This decreases pedal strikes and also brings the rear wheel in more, bringing in the rear wheel in more increases maneuverability. Finally, Rocky's team riders have chosen a headtube of 70.25 degrees. After extensive experimentation with different head tube angles, the team unanimously concluded that 70.25 is a perfect balance of stability and agility.
Constructed of FORM™ C13 Hi Mod Smooth wall Carbon Fiber, the Rocky Mountain Vertex 950 RSL frame is super light and strong. The tapered headtube and 12mm rear axle offer superior stiffness. This frame is super strong and light. The carbon fiber build materials along with the geometry of the Vertex make this one great frame to build from.
The Rocky Mountain Vertex has a high quality components build. Let’s start with the innovative Fox 32 Float 100mm CTD. CTD stands for Climb, Trail, & Descend. These are all settings on FOX’s new shocks and forks. The Climb setting acts similar to a lock out. It stiffens the suspension for better climbing and power transfer. Trail is a happy medium between lock out and wide open. Descend opens the suspension up and allows use of more of the suspension. The 32mm stanchions are super stiff and reduce flex. A Sram 2x10 drivetrain is used on this build. A 2x10 drivetrain is versatile and reduces redundancies in gears while saving weight. Sram x7 trigger shifters utilize the matchmaker technology to reduce clutter on the handlebars. Matchmaker clamps replace all the clamps on your handle bar down to 2 clamps, one on each side. A Sram x7 front derailleur and Sram x9 rear derailleur move the chain up and down your cassette and chainwheel. The Rocky Mountain Vertex 950 RSL is race ready all around 29er. The Vertex is able to swiftly maneuver through technical trails; this is due to the tight wheelbase and 26” feel.

Each Rocky Mountain complete bike includes free professional assembly by Jenson USA. Prior to shipping your bike, we will completely build and tune it, just as we would for an in-store purchase. Then, we'll partially disassemble and carefully pack your bike for shipping. Please allow 3 business days for the bike build process prior to shipment.
When your bike arrives, it will take about 30 minutes to unpack and perform basic re-assembly tasks (such as installing the front wheel and seatpost) using common hand tools. Jenson USA has created a helpful video (below) to guide you through this process. Stuck? Please call us at (888) 880-3811 and we’ll be happy to help.
