Rocky Mountain Bicycles humbly began in the basement of a Vancouver British Columbia bike shop, in 1981. The employees first imported bikes to sell to their customers. Later, they began manufacturing and importing frames to their exact specifications. Rocky Mountain now produces mountain bikes, road bikes, and urban bicycles. The company has come quite a ways from their modest beginning; however, their core values have never wavered. Rocky Mountain Bicycles is just as sought after now as they were in 1981.
The Rocky Mountain Slayer was built to be versatile. Rocky Mountain utilizes their trade- marked StraightUp™ Geometry, which makes the bicycle successful on a variety of terrains. The Slayer scales steep climbs like a lightweight cross country bicycle. The Slayer’s static seat tube angle is 75° so as the suspension sags you end up in a powerful pedaling position, of approximately 73°. Your weight is in the center of your saddle and over your pedals, for efficient climbing. Rocky Mountain created an all mountain (enduro) bicycle that climbs so well, for bigger better descents. The Slayer shines when its nose is pointed down the steep side of the mountain. Bomb down some seriously ravaged terrain with ease. The slack headtube angle provides ample comfort and maneuverability for gnarly descents.
Constructed of FORM™ 7005 Series custom hydroformed alloy, the Slayer’s frame is strong! The large downtube, tapered head tube, and 12mm rear axle make for an incredibly stiff bike. Internal cable routing makes this bike look sleek! More than that, internal cable routing reduces contaminants from reaching your cables. The Slayer also features ISCG ’03 tabs for ultimate versatility.
The Rocky Mountain Slayer 50 features quality high performance components with an eye on weight savings. RockShox suspension pieces work together to calm the rugged terrain. The RockShox Lyric RC fork is a mean and lean rock eating machine. The Lyrik combines the climbing prowess and downhill control through a BoXXer- derived Mission Control DH damper. The stout 20mm through axle provides superior strength and rigidity. The RockShox Lyric RC features both rebound and low speed compression adjustments. To complete the suspension package, Rocky Mountain chose the RockShox Monarch RT3 custom valved rear shock. The RockShox Monarch features rebound and 3 position platform adjustment. Together, the RockShox suspension pieces are able to demolish debris, for a smooth ride. The SRAM 10 speed drivetrain provides you with ample gear ratios for any terrain. SRAM X.7 shifters work in perfect harmony with the SRAM X.7 front derailleur and SRAM X.9 rear derailleur. Avid Elixir 50 XM hydraulic brakes provide strong, reliable braking. Rocky Mountain snuck in a nice little surprise. The Slayer 50 features the RockShox Reverb seatpost. The RockShox Reverb is adjustable from 380-420mm. The Rocky Mountain Slayer 50 is the complete package; Rocky Mountain’s proven StraightUp™ geometry, high performing components, and expert craftsmanship make the Rocky Mountain Slayer 50 an excellent choice.
