Comments about Rocky Mountain Reaper I Bike '11:

I use this bike for everything like dirt jumping, cross country, down hill, and even taking a ride down the street with the family. Rocky Mountain makes a killer frame. This bike has a frame that will handle anything. The wheel set is pretty good also. The only down about this bike is the brakes. Go buy it! It's worth it!

Comments about Rocky Mountain Reaper I Bike '11:

first off, i use this bike for literally everything. comuting, riding fire roads, downhill single track, some other trails. iv deffinatly put this bike through its paces. ill start from the front and work back. for some reason, the front brake disk rubs on the frame. it seems that it has rubbed through the paint and its not rubbing anymore. but the front brake is deffinatly solid. the tires are amazing. the handle bars are solid. there is even a little viewing window type thing on the bracket for the bars with a little centering circle on them so your sure to get dead center on the bars. the grips are alright. i always wear dyamond back gloves. the brake levers are awesome. just long enough to get a couple fingers on it but short enough to stay out of the way. the shifters are great. theres a thumb lever and a pointer finger lever. both are smooth. the frame is great. it just feels so solid. the gearing is awesome. for me atleast. i feel like i could pedal right up a vertical wall on granny gears. but the higher end is fast enough to get bookin down a trail.the seat is a little harsh but still gets the job done. everything about this bike is solid and can take anything you can throw at it. iv done things as little as rolling off a curb to going off a 4 foot drop onto concrete and she stays strong. the only problems i see for the future is the front brake disk rubs on the frame. the bike gets wet alot and im scared of rust or anything. and the chain, in 8th gear on the back leaves the chain not even an inch away from the the frame and its starting to mar and nick away the paint near the frame. i figure some hockey tape wrapped around the frame like the downhill guys will fix that problem

Comments about Rocky Mountain Reaper I Bike '11:

Great bike, I was looking for something more intro downhill ready than anything else. Rode a friends Raleigh that was an ex-race bike, was too far forward, rode my brother's Marin B17 and fell in love. Talked to multiple seasoned riders and sports chalet employees and test rode multiple Marins and Diamonbacks and couldnt find the right bike. Finally after an employee of sport chalet took a short list of interested (adrenaline sports, motorcycles, hiking, being outdoors), he gave the bike a once over on Jenson USA and said "Do it, you wont be disappointed". And I am 100% satisfied. Perfect bike for someone wanting some air, some sweet trails and to enjoy the downhill bits with no compromises. Perfect. Thanks Jenson!

Comments about Rocky Mountain Reaper I Bike '11:

I was looking for a bike that I could use primarily to commute from one side of the airbase to the other which is roughly 4 miles one way. Most of the commute is tarmac but some of it is dirt, mud, gravel and rocks. I needed a quality constructed bike that would be low maintenance and reliable because I'm in Afghanistan. There are no bike repair shops on base and I need a bike that will continue to work for me day after day in the war zone. I believe I purchased the bike I was searching for. The Rocky Mountain Reaper 1 comes with most of the entry level components I was looking for in a XC bike like disc brakes, coil-sprung fork, short stem, and fat tires. I'm 5'11 and the 16.5" frame is just right. The gearing is too low for XC in my oppinion because I can run out of gears on the flat straightaways. However if you are climbing a lot of hills this would be a great bike for you. The gearing is definately inadequate for downhill pedling. Since my base is relatively flat, the gearing is fine for me and I won't bother changing that out. One thing to note is that the chain rubs against the chain stay when set to the highest speed.I changed out the cheap pedals with a pair of Straightline Platforms, the seat post with a Centrik Tamer Seatpost, and the stiff seat with the ISM Adamo Peak Mountain Saddle. Now my Reaper with it's fat pedals, shock seatpost and anatomically correct saddle is transporting me in style and comfort all over the base with every chance I get to ride. You can't catch me...I'm the Gingerbread Man...Would I recommend this bike? Hell yes. Plus Jenson USA ships to APO so if I can get my bike here, so can every other US Citizen working in Afghanistan. It comes in two boxes, one for wheels and the bike in the other. Sure at [$] the Rocky Mountain Reaper 1 is a little steep compared to the $100 full suspension, poorly made, one color, one size fits all "mountain" bike you can purchase at the PX. Just remember this...I paid [$] for an [$] bike while all the others here on base paid $100 for a $20 bike, and I'm being generous. If you want a bike to anchor to your living quaters and never ever ride because the bike sucks to ride, get the PX bike. If you want a bike that you will desire to ride everyday and not just to commute back and forth to work, then get the Rocky Mountain Reaper 1. It's worth every cent and it's the perfect war zone, Afghan deployment bike.Thank you Jenson USA for supporting Operation Enduring Freedom by shipping to APO. Although you took what seemed like an eternity to build my bike, 7 days, you delivered and that's what counts the most. You guys rock!
