I do allot of climbing and this is supposed to be Srams toughest chain. It seems to strech to 50% right away then lasts pretty good after that. Even with regular cleaning and lube it creaks quite a bit. Lasts about 600 - 800 miles. The power link tends to wear faster then the chain so change it out regularly. For the high price I'll probably try a less expensive Shimano chain next but they don't seem to have a quality 9 speed chain so I expect to have to replace it even more often. I've never broke one so I guess I can't complain too much.

I have owned my PC-991 chain for over a year now and I have put it through some of the nastiest and mudiest of single track trail with zero failures. The chain has been caked with mud and dirt and it still shifts as smoothly and reliably as the day I purchased it. The nickel coating not only help with smooth shifting, it also looks great and makes cleaning the chain a cinch. The PowerLink makes installation easy and also makes disassembaling the chain for cleaning easy. I would deffinitely recommend this chain to a friend and when it comes time to purchase a new chain, I will stick with another PC-991.
