I had 3 quick links in this chain after only a couple MTB rides. I'm going with 3 stars instead of 0 because it was mostly due to a shifting problem I was having. I would normally blame myself for this because I definitely was asking the chain to do something irregular, but I also think it should have been able to take it. I read reviews on other sites and found that other riders have experienced similar breakage. I'd recommend the chain for road use if you really want to use it, but I don't think it's suited for use on a mountain bike where you are more likely to shift under load.

Comments about Sram PC-991 Hollow Pin 9SP Chain 2011:
I would not put this on a heavy use mtb, but works well for a light duty rally bike. Do not expect to do significant chain break repairs, it should be set up with the quick link and tossed when out of service life.

This is the third chain of this model that I have owned on two different bikes. I am very happy with it durability and reliability even though it is an extremely light chain.

This is a solid chain for the average rider. I used it for casual MTB riding, mostly XC and all mountain stuff. no problems with it.

Comments about Sram PC-991 Hollow Pin 9SP Chain 2011:
This chain is a fragile chain. If you are a larger, heavier, or more abusive rider, then stick with the PC-991 Cross Step.
Comments about Sram PC-991 Hollow Pin 9SP Chain 2011:
Very easy chain to install. Cut to proper length and install with Sram Power Link. A quiet chain and shifts nicely.

I needed a new chain. I got this one to see if it would fix my shifting problem and it did. Works very well.

Broke on my second ride. Seemed like a great chain but didn't hold up well at all. Bought a solid pin and it seems to be lasting ok.

Comments about Sram PC-991 Hollow Pin 9SP Chain 2011:
I have about 250 km on this chain so far. May be premature to say it is durable but I have not had any problems - not even a frozen link. I should also add that I take great care of my chains. This chain shifts very well on my sram 990 cassette and raceface next sl cranks. It is quiet and smooth sounding.

I have only used this chain for one ride so far, but it looks really good on the bike and was shifting through the gears just fine. I would recommend this to a friend.
