Got a 7 or 8 speed bike that needs a new cassette? Toss one of these on and ride away while being weighed down by the money you saved buying one of these. I bought a 12-26 cluster, and weighed it to be 217 g with lockring. The sprockets are all steel, held together by a single hex headed screw. Yes, you can take apart your cassette, with minimal effort, and exchange any of the sprockets. None of them are riveted together. It's absolutely lovely. Shifting feels as good as any cassette I've ridden, nothing special. If you're building a road bike on a budget, I highly recommend this for anybody running 7 or 8 speed era equipment. The 12-26 will be just small enough to work with most short cage derailleurs and 53t chainrings, but also tall enough to get yourself up most slopes with a 39t small ring.

I needed to upgrade from an old 7 speed Freewheel Hyperglide and found that the SRAM 850 8 speed cassette not only in my price range, but it has lived up to its reputation. Since FD and RD were replaced new, this was a given to update.

I always thought that the more I spend the better the biking experience it would be. This combined with click shifting changed all that!!! Precision, reliability all able to handle my 250 lb frame on may types of offroad mountain courses.
