I never leave home without one of these in my backpack - you don't need to carry a chain tool for trailside fixes. I've never had one fail & they make installing & removing chains for maintenance so simple. Although, there is a bit of a trick in unsnapping the link that can be frustrating at times.
Its also wise not to use one when working on your bike on the lawn - if you drop it they're very hard to find.

Comments about Sram Power Link 9 Speed:
I tried Shimano's pins to fix my broke Shimano chain which kept it going for a week. I then decided to try SRAM's powerlink--500 miles later I still haven't had any problems with my chain; and I do put a lot of strain on it going up steep singletrack. I now carry 2 in my pack when riding; a chain break is the least of my concerns with one of these on hand.

Comments about Sram Power Link 9 Speed:
If you dont end up needing one yourself, you will run into someone on the trails who will need one. Very quick and easy to install without tools. I broke my chain once and was back in the saddle in less than 5 minutes because these came to the rescue. Weighing less than the mud on your bike, this piece is "worth its weight in gold" on the trails.

I love these little guys. They make taking the cahin off your bike so easy. No need to break the chain and have special tools. When they are new, they can be a little hard to get off, but I would rather it have a good fit than to be too loose.

Easy chain removal with no tools. Always carry one in the hydration pack for chain repairing on the trail side. So much easier than using a chain tool and replacement pins.

Quick, secure...what more is there to say

If you use SRAM chains, you need to keep one or two of these in your repair kit. They're light, so I just keep a couple in my Camelback when I go mtb-ing. They're easy to install, but sometimes they can be difficult to get apart.
Comments about Sram Power Link 9 Speed:
I use these on all my chains.

Snap to remove chain for cleaning. Allways carry extras for easy emergency repairs. If installed correctly it should last a long, long time. At this moment I am using two in my chain and no problem. Cheap part to keep you rolling.
