The Thomson Elite seatpost is a classic and for good reason. They last forever, they look great, and they perform wonderfully.
Like a CK headset, they end up getting passed down from bike to bike because they last virtually forever. They're light, well machined, and have a feel of quality that I have not seen with any less expensive seatposts. To top it off, Thomson customer service is very approachable and works with the customer should any issues arise years down the road.

Danger !!! I am sorry that I cannot report the (+) reviews that others have posted for this product. I had this post on my road bike. The mounting clamp design to the post / seat rails is a very weak design. On two (2) occasions, the seat clamp bolt snapped w/o any warning, dropping the seat and nearly me off the bike, each time nearly loosing control of my bike. On one occasion I was humping pretty hard on a downhill, at approx 43 mph. The 1st time it happened I just said 'ohh well. I'll fix it'. The next time it happened, after nearly biting the pavement, I took out the post never to use it again. I've e-mailed Thompson but they never returned any e-mails. In my opinion, the design stresses the clamp bolts beyond their elastic limit. The second bolt I put in was a grade 8 bolt, and it still snapped. I also ride mtn and cannot ever imagine using this post on a mth bike if it could not stand up to road use (my weight is 185 pounds, ex Cat II racer).Again, sorry this conflicts with the other listed reviews, but the above reflects my experience with the post, You'll have to decide for yourself to buy it or not.Note: This will be the 2nd time I've attempted to post a review. I just don't want to see anyone get hurt. On posting a review, one gets a msg that review will be posted after its content is reviewed. I gave a (-) review. Perhaps this is the reason my review did not get posted the 1st time.

Comments about Thomson Elite Seatpost:
Every bike I own (except one with a dropper) has a Thomson seatpost because they simply work. The quality is exceptional and they are easy to adjust to get the perfect position. You can't go wrong with this post.

Comments about Thomson Elite Seatpost:
This is the third Thompson seat post I've owned. The others are still on other bikes and this one was for a new carbon frame. The best thing is that it is easy to adjust and once you get the seat adjusted, you never have to think about it again.
What can I say, strong, light, and made in the USA.

Comments about Thomson Elite Seatpost:
this is almost a product that will last longer without reflecting any sign of wear in years than any other part of the bike, I first rode it on my Klein Quantum Race in 1998 and still was pristine the silver one, my father ones it's still rolling since those days in black color without any scratch, and although are a bit heavier than carbon ones, you won't have to throw it out like I did with a 3t Doric LTD because tighten the bolt more than need it. Just Perfect.

I have one on my Downhill Bike and it is flawless. I never have to think about the seatpost or it clamping to my saddle. It never creeks like some posts do and has proven to be strong even after bending a couple saddle rails. simple and reliable to set up.

I use Thomson seat posts on all of my hand built bikes. The one-piece post and lower clamp area guarantees that it can't fail. It's a high quality, precision machined component made in the USA.
