I used to use a dedicated hard soled mountain bike shoe. Then I went to the Jenson will call store one day and saw these on sale. I liked the way they looked. Much more casual looking than a standard riding shoe plus they looked like you could hike in them if needed. Something that's much harder to do in a traditional riding shoe. So I took a chance and bought them. They have become my favorite and only riding shoes now. They work great with clipless pedals and the soles are solid. No play or flex and you can "hike a bike" with them as well. Also they are comfortable enough to wear out to a post ride meal.

I really like these shoes. These are my first pair of clipless MTB shoes. I received them on Monday April 29, 2013. On Thursday May 16, 2013 (Less than 1 month of use 3-4x a week) I noticed a tear on the inside upper portion of the right shoe where your big toe bends. I ride in AZ where trails are rocky. I am not sure if I caught it on a rock or the shoe is just weak on this part of the shoe from flexing. I am still using the shoes and I like them a lot. I just wish the uppers would have lasted a little longer.

Comments about Shimano MT33 SPD MTB Shoes:

Got these for use on my commute bike, but then took them on a bike tour of Tuscany. They work great, and I particularly like being able to walk on softer floors without the concern about the cleats doing damage. They work decently for doing some light hiking, but on irregular surfaces, the cleats can sometimes make it interesting as they'll slide on rock. On flat surfaces, they're great, but the sole is stiff for any long walking. As a commuter shoe, they're pretty fantastic.

Overall, this is an excellent shoe. It's lightweight, fits true-to-size, and I can't even tell that it's a biking shoe once I'm in town running errands. It's also a great shoe for cross country. I use it for about three hours every Friday afternoon.

Comments about Shimano MT33 SPD MTB Shoes:

The shoe only comes in average width size so I bought size larger and that works for me. Very comfortable fit especially when I loosen the laces at the toe box to accomodate my foot width. Fell great walking and are very comfortable while in the saddle.

Comments about Shimano MT33 SPD MTB Shoes:

Wish it had wide option when I ordered it, makes my pinky toe sleep if I use it for too long. Otherwise, works for its purpose, looks like a normal walking shoes but does not feel like it since the sole is stiff. This is my first time using biking shoes so it feels awkward for walking purposes. Well made though for the price I paid for.
