Giro Aeon Helmet 2012

The Giro Aeon combines light weight, comfort and cooling performance to create a Pro Tour level helmet that will give you an advantage when the road climbs and the heat turns up. Giro created the Aeon with 24 Wind Tunnel™ air vents. Giro’s wind tunnel ventilation system is a combination of active vents with exaust channels in the helmet that push cool fresh air onto the riders head and pushing out the warm air that is already inside the helmet. This helps improve venting over the previous venting leader, the Giro Ionos. Keeping the head cooler and more comfortable is just the start. For safety, Giro uses an In-Mold thermaformed reinforced roll cage along with the In-Mold-EPS liner with polycarbonate shell. In the event of a crash, this technology allows the Giro Atmos to maintain structural integrity and offer maximum protection.

Giro uses Roc Loc 5, their best fit system, to fine tune the fit of the helmet with micro adjuster as well as the ability to offer fore/aft tilt adjustment. The interior padding is plush and uses X-Static fabric to combat bacteria and odor. At 222g for a medium, this cpsc certified can handle road racing, triathlon, MTB XC race, cyclocross, track and all enthusiasts.

  • Road Race, Triathlon, MTB XC Race, Cyclocross, Track Race, Enthusiast Road

The number one reason I bought this helmet was the WOW factor in how good it looks. But after wearing it for a couple of rides I can say that the WOW factor has taken a back seat to comfort and safty. It's just very well done in all aspects. It's the coolest (as in air flow to the head) light weight helmet I've ever had the pleasure of wearing. The straps are so soft and flexable whice makes it so much more comfortable compared to my old Bell.Is it worth [$]? I personally couldn't go that high. I got mine for much less after an extensive internet search. But after experiencing the comfort and high craftmanship of this helmet I'd gladly pay more than what I did.BTW...My head circumference is 23.5 inches. I went with the measurements that Giro's websit listed and got a "Large". It fit perfectly.

Giro Aeon has it all!
Previously bought a Giro ProLight helmet. It was light weight but it lacked the easy adjustment one needs when sometimes using a cycling cap. The Aeon has everything the Prolight has and more. It has an on-the-fly adjustmenting mechanism that needs only one hand. Also, I ride double centuries and some helmets get heavy after 13 hours in the saddle. This helmet is as comfortable after 13 hours as it was when I first tried it on.

PROS: Adjustment, Style, Light Weight, Color Choices, Fit
