Why spend a bundle on the one part of your bike that takes the worst beating. These babies take a licking and always function beautifully. The platform lets you get on and go in difficult terrain, even if you can't click in right away. The XT's have been my fave pedals for decades, you couldn't pay me to change.

Purchased these for my 9-year-old daughter, a budding mountain bike rider / racer. It did not take her long to get the hang of using these pedals. The tension, even when dialed all the way down, was a challenge a first, but she learned quickly after a few falls. She used them in her first mtb race a few weeks after receiving them with great success!
