Featuring the same geometry as its carbon fiber brothers, the XCT 2 is designed to shred trail like the XCT 3 and 4, but at a more affordable price point. Made from Kinesium alloy, the Jamis Dakar XCT 2 is strong yet lightweight. Utilizing the mp4 linkage design, the Dakar XCT 2 has 130mm of suspension to eat up any unpleasentries in the way. The tapered head tube and asymetrical chainstays produce a rigid frame that is ultra stiff. SRAM X.9 shifters and derailleurs produce crisp, clean shifts. Meanwhile the Ritchey cockpit helps to keep the price low, and the quality remains high.

Comments about Jamis Bicycles Jamis Dakar XCT 2 Bike '11:

Had the 2009 XCT before & then a 2009 XAM. But I had to go back to a newer XCT, because it is lighter and a better geo for my style of riding. The slack head angle is great for descents. It climbs efficiently as well.

Comments about Jamis Bicycles Jamis Dakar XCT 2 Bike '11:

Wow this is a great bike! When I took it out of the box my mate a Pro Bike Mechanic just winked and smiled. Yep it's "no Rolls-canhardly" meaning it doesn't just roll down hills and hardly get up again. This thing belts along. I have already tested it fiercely at the Commonwealth Games track Lysterfield Melbourne Australia and it hasn't shirked any condition yet. This is a fast bike and the geometry suits me perfectly. I went for the 21" and it seems just right. It has great take off up and down hill, in fact, causing "white Knuckle syndrome" on a few big hills from gripping the bars a bit too hard! I have full confidence in the bike and so far apart from telling my legs to "shut up" this should keep on keeping on! It has got a slight shutter in the back brake but once it warms up it seems to disappear. It could use remote lock out for the trails I ride, i'll fit one later no real urgency. As I mainly ride Road bikes this is a great machine to unleash and put your nerve and judgement to the test! I Love it, happy riding folks.

Great bike that takes everything you ride over. The color is much nicer in person and the ride is smooth as it gets.

Comments about Jamis Bicycles Jamis Dakar XCT 2 Bike '11:

Climbs like a goat, slack head angle for an XC bike makes for confident steep decents. Smooth suspension. X9 shifts are instant.
Top tube is really thin looking but you never rub you knees on it.
    Realy nice build.

Comments about Jamis Bicycles Jamis Dakar XCT 2 Bike '11:

It took me awhile to make a choice between several XCT models that were on sale. I immediately excluded 1 and 4 for being too basic and too expensive but had a hard time with 2 and 3. In the end I decided that 2 was the best value for money. One of the things that I wasn't so sure about was the color that looked sort of dull and boring on the screen. But I was pleasantly surprised when I received it because it is much more attractive in reality. Packaging and build quality were very good. This was my first bike that I bought already put together. So I was concerned about every little detail. Overall I'm pretty happy with it. I wish it had a QR seat post collar and a shorter stem (I'm not sure why anyone would keep 110 on a trail bike) but with all the money I saved I don't mind upgrading a few things.

Comments about Jamis Bicycles Jamis Dakar XCT 2 Bike '11:

I put in a whole season on this bike last year, and it was fantastic. For how hard I rode it, there were only a couple of mechanical issues. The main issue is the rear brake rotor. I tried a variety of solutions to get rid of the howl; when I switched from the Avid G3 clean sweep that comes stock, to the Hayes Mudcutter, the problem basically went away (sometimes it still howls just a little when the pads haven't heated up, usually only lasts a minute or two at most). Other than that issue, this bike freaking rocks!!!!! It can climb and descend like a champ. I have yet to bottom out the suspension during even the most brutal rides. I love the SRAM 2x10 drivetrain, it is very straightforward and can take a beating. The wheelset is awesome, I haven't had to true them yet, even after a long season of use.

If you are looking for a solid trail bike, definitely check this one out!
