Comments about Shimano Deore XT M770 Front Derailleur:

After dealing with a SRAM 7 front deraileur and being told to pedal easier to get it to shift correctly, I upgraded. This is exactly what I was wanting. no lag, goes where I want it, no problems.

Solid RD for the price its oustanding

      Cons

      • Lack of adjustment

Comments about Shimano Deore XT M770 Front Derailleur:

The XT RD went on my newly built Salsa Fargo. I was a bit miffed that DrR did not have a rear adjustment for cable tension. None of the new XT/XTR stuff has adjustment knobs. I used an in-line adjuster that came with the BB7 brake kit.
The DR does seem to want a fair amount of tension in order to track true on the cassette. Takes a little time to setup but works great once complete.

This is a response to Mathews 1 star review:ALL front derailleurs get "sloppy" after awhile, it is part of the regular tuning that is involved with using a bike.

Comments about Shimano Deore XT M770 Front Derailleur:

You're lucky if it lasts one season before it starts to get sloppy. I don't have another recommendation, but there must be something better. Two bikes in a row, both higher-end bikes ($2k plus.) Going to try SRAM this time.

Comments about Shimano Deore XT M770 Front Derailleur:

This was bought as a replacement for the existing Deore derailleur. The old one was struggling to find the smallest cog.Want to know why this one is 18g lighter than the old one? Shimano has been penny pinching again by not including a screw on the cage. If you want to remove it or adjust it without the chain in the way, then the only option is to break the chain.Shifts good but -2 stars for no cage screw
