I've owned them for more than 2 years with daily use, and they prob have well over 2000km on them with almost no sign of wear on the threads. I've never had a punture in that time.
Its much much easier to ride with these on tarmac, and they are soo silent, I wish I had bought these before.
They do give some bump absorbtion, but at the same time, they ride slightly harsher than normal MTB tires because of the lower volume and higher pressure, but in a couple days I got accustomed to it and didnt mind.
In the two years, I have never had a punture vs. a punture every two or three months with my MTB tires, so the kevlar must be doing its job.
they have very good grip in the wet and on dry tarmac, I've never had an "oh god!" moment with them yet. Although I did take them on a small detour off road with some loose gravel, sand and grass and they performed well, but they did loose traction in the sand and the front slid a little bit in the grass while turning.
reflectve stripe is great.
they do have a wire bead, which makes them a bit heavier than if they were folding, i think this is my biggest complaint with the tire, which is nit-picking really.
a few months ago i noticed that some of the material covering the bead of my rear tire is starting to peel of, but its nothing major, I think its prob as a result of running the tire under pressure unknowingly.

This is a great tire for the money. I had been using mountain bike tires on the road and never knew what I was missing until I put these tires on. The bike glides down the road.

Comments about Maxxis Overdrive Tire:
Very Nice tires I put these on my trek 4500 to make it more suitable for the street. I am very impressed. Even though they are at 50PSI the ride is still incredibly smooth. So far they have taking bad hits on curbs and about 2 foot drops. I am a 6foot 205lb rider
Comments about Maxxis Overdrive Tire:
An excellent street tyre, I ride through the Sydney Australia CBD, on street, off street over curbs ands paths, pulled 300 peices of glass out one of the tyres after a New Years Eve ride and no flats, does not slip on normal surfaces wet or dry, (Poliished wet marble and mossy paths excepted)
Comments about Maxxis Overdrive Tire:
Like the Maxxis Over drive Tires will have to order one more for the front. I highly recommend this tire to anyone who is looking for a preformance tire.
Comments about Maxxis Overdrive Tire:
Would recommend to all that have large nobbie tires with heavy traction. If you need a tire for good Aspalt surface and faster rolling action, traction is great too. This is the tire for $36.00 plus and shipping. You cant go wrong. Plus the tire looks good on my bike. Plan to buy andother set when these wear out.
Comments about Maxxis Overdrive Tire:
This has been the best upgrade I've made to my hybrid bike. I have about 500 miles on the tires and they show no wear whatsoever. They have given me zero problems.
Comments about Maxxis Overdrive Tire:
We have an Ibis road tandem that we were going to take to SE Asia for a 4 month, 6000km self supported tour. This setup with bike and people is about 400lbs and KILLS tires, especially the rear. On the last tour to Italy we used Specialized Armadillo 28x700 tires and shredded the rear in 800km and it was a real hassle finding good bigger size tour tires on route. So this time tire selection was critical since Cambodia is going to be a tad harder to find tires should they fail. So the choice came down to Schwalbe Marathon Plus that everybody raves about or the Maxxis Overdrive. I couldn't get the Schwalbes in the size I wanted from the local shops so I went for the Maxxis. Well 6000km later the tires held up fantastic. The rear is a bit worn but it could probably do another 5000km. The front hardly looks worn. We rode primarily paved roads though sometimes not in very good shape and sometimes dirt. Having the 38c was a great choice: protected the rims better and softened the ride even though we had them at the max 75lbs pressure. Wouldn't hesitate to use them again. Thanks Maxxis.
Comments about Maxxis Overdrive Tire:
I found myself riding my bicycle about 80% of the time on the road with my stock knobby tires and wanted something faster and lighter that resisted punctures. I was riding with knobbies and slime and the tires were too heavy. I decided to purchase these as they have a mild tread and are thinner with lower rolling resistance and kevlar belted. They have been great on pavement, mild off road, sandy track and I know I have run over many pieces of shattered Heineken bottles on the sides of the road and they so far have resisted puncture by glass. They do not resist puncture by Kiawe thorns (Mesquite for you on the mainland). Nothing resists Kiawe thorns! Great tires so far and I've put hundreds of miles on them. I'm going on a weeklong trip over varied terrain both off and on road and I think I might just use these instead of my knobbies... still debating it though...
