I upgraded from HG series that came on my Specialized Stumjumper FSR Comp. That one lasted me a couple of YEARS! I ride at LEAST 3-4 times weekly, AND race Kenda Cup, & other x/c races. I wanted to save weight, and retain the smooth shifting I have had since I bought the bike. I got 11-34t w/5 splines. No durabilty problems. I weigh 145lbs. I don't know why people say they bend these things. I think they probably recklessly shift under load like they're riding a motorcycle or something. I don't think you are supposed to do that on a bike. That's just my opinion.

I've long preached running a full XT drivetrain, but I may have to go back to SRAM when buying a cassette. It seems that, to save weight, Shimano changed the spider to a four arm style vs. the old five arm. On my third ride with this cassette, the second cog folded over on itself under load. Being known as "The Bike Buster," I got a lot of heckling from my friends... but it turns out that this is a design flaw. If you're a strong rider who likes to put the hammer down on climbs, buy SRAM instead.

Comments about Shimano Deore XT M770 9 Speed Cassette:
It's a must it you have high end hubs, I was running a cheap cassette on my I9 hub, it was noching the aluminum free hub body. Now I have the XT m770 and the problem has been fixed.

Comments about Shimano Deore XT M770 9 Speed Cassette:
I bought the 11-34T version and fell in love the first ride I used it! It improved my shifting and proved very durable. I just have a 3x9 setup and found that the 11-34T version made it possible to stay in the middle ring for most of my climbs and actually improved my race times! I loved it so much that when I traded my hardtail for a full-suspension bike I bought it again!

Comments about Shimano Deore XT M770 9 Speed Cassette:
I upgraded to this after wearing out a Shimano HG50 (to be fair that one still lasted 3,000 miles). I purchased the 11t-34t design which comes with the 5 arm spider (instead of the 4 arm version). So far I only have about 200 miles on it but I am very pleased. It was quite a bit lighter than my old cassette, and it looks nicer too.
