I find it very odd why so many people say this is hard to pump. Are you a bunch of 4-year olds? You probably just don't know that it has High Volume and High Pressure modes.
Also, this pump head design is one of the best thought out ones out there (even better than those supposedly "smart" pump heads). Only an idiot wouldn't know how to operate it.
The gauge isn't very accurate, but it's better than nothing.
A T-handle would be more ergonomic, but as it is the handle is a good diameter and has a good texture.
Great aluminum construction.
Mine is the first generation model since it was updated who knows how many years ago (10 years?). It's starting to show it's age though, and I'm afraid I may have to replace it soon.

This is a terrible product. The first time i used the pump the rubber collar in the pump that is supposed to seal on the valve was too small. The fit was so tight the rubber collar got stuck on the valve and would not come off. I had to use pliers to pull the rubber gasket off the valve and ended up ripping my tube at the valve stem. Luckily i thought to try the pump before i really needed on the trail.

I am sure some people have had a great experience with this pump. My thought is quality control on this product is very poor so it is a 50/50 shot on whether you will get a good pump. Some of the plastic pieces on the pump had already started to fall off when i unboxed it.

Like others have said in reviews the instructions are non existent. I watched an online video to make sure i was using it correctly and the still fell apart.

My advice, pay a little extra for a better pump. If you buy this one you are taking a big chance on throwing your money away.

Pros

    • Hard to Pump
    • Inaccurate Dial
    • Leaks
    • Loses Air

    Best Uses

Comments about CrankBrothers Crank Brothers Power Pump Alloy:

Can't get enough air into my tires to get the gauge to even start moving. Air leaks out somewhere in the handle, such that if you stop pumping, the tire loses air at a very significant pace. I can't actually get enough air into my tire to safely ride it. This terrible pump has literally rendered my bike unrideable until I can buy a different pump.

The pump was $10 (Awesome deal, or so I was told)I was told because they bought so many they got a bargain and passed it onto the consumer... Turns out the pump is simply a poor pump, I cannot see a small woman or child being able to pump a tire up with this pump.
I made the mistake of reading reviews after I purchased it..

Excellent pump. Portable yet powerful, being the ideal choice for fast pump a flat tire during a MTB ride, with its dual piston. Only cons, in my opinion, is the inacurate and too small dial.
