This crank, like much of the new XT line, has the best price to performance ratio of any new MTB components. There is simply not enough difference, with the exception of weight, to justify an upgrade to XTR.
This crank shifts very, very well. Mine is paired with SLX shifters.

Strong, stiff, no fuss, and take abuse. Far better than anything else at the price IMHO. Maybe triples don't shift quite as well as doubles but the gear range is helpful for all types of riding. 90% as good as XTR at better than half the price with a small weight penalty.

I have these with the triple chainring on my new Yeti SB-66 and they are excellent. I love the black finish but more importantly I love the way they shift as well as the gear range. The best XT cranks so far.

the crankset is plenty strong and looks great, it's not as light as an xtr or an x.o, but is plenty for trial riding or AM. with the right set up and the right bike, the crank would help make a deadly enduro racer.
