      Comments about Yakima Swingdaddy Rack:

I researched hitch mounted bike racks for months before I bought this rack. I'm paranoid about what I hang my bike on, especially when I know it will involve long trips down the interstate. I was looking for a rack for my wife's new SUV since her vehicle is what we take on family vacations, plus I wanted something she could use when she and the kids had a chance to go riding without me.

This means it has to be relatively easy to use, it can't block or interfere with the rear gate opening and closing, and it has to hold 4 bikes. There were a lot of options, but in the end it boiled down to getting something I trusted. I really wanted one of the stand up racks, but after doing some math, I figured out a four bike stand up hitch mounted rack would scrape at the bottom of my driveway. So this was it.

I've had bikes on this rack for ~1200 miles of interstate now, and had zero problems. The bikes stay put on the rack, and the rack stays put on the car. It's easy to swing out so you can get to the stuff in the back of the car or load/unload the car while the bikes are in place, the whole thing locks into the hitch, there's a built in lock on the rack to lock the bikes on - Yakima thought of everything, and it works.

I have a couple of niggling complaints, but nothing that would keep me from recommending this to a friend. It's heavy - my wife doesn't want it on the car all the time, but I'm not sure she could put it on by herself. Also, any bike that doesn't have a reasonably level top tube actually really should have the part that Yakima suggests to make the bike hang level. I viewed this as a "suggestion" and while I was able to "make it work" I will be buying a couple of those puppies before I use the rack again, because it will make life much easier.

      Comments about Yakima Swingdaddy Rack:

This is a great rack and wonderful upgrade from my old Yakima Doubledown. This allows me to open my rear door completely on my 2010 Rav4. The integrated lock is really nice and I haven't had any troubles with it. The swing feature is a little more involved w/the pin and screw. But it's still fairly easy and provides a solid mount. The only potential weakness I can find might be the cradles. They do feel a little flimsy, but they've held up well for me so far and they lock in place better than they did on my old rack. I do take care when I slip on and pull off my straps, in order to avoid any undue stress on them.

        Comments about Yakima Swingdaddy Rack:

This rack is easy to install and was a perfect fit for my vehicle. SUV's with a rear tire mount with appreciate this rack. The swinging arm causes the rack tpo sit off the rear of the vehicle giving enough clearance for the tire mounted on the back of the vihicle.
