Eastern is a company that has its roots in BMX. Eastern has done very well at bringing high quality bikes and bike parts at affordable prices. Eastern, in recent years, has branched off into making 26” Dirt Jump bikes and these bikes are stacked with great parts and frames!

The Thunderbird Bike is Eastern’s mid level Dirt Jumper Mountain Bike. The frame is made from durable Chromoly. The frame also has an integrated headtube and Spanish bottom bracket. The SR Duro DJ-D 100mm travel fork has a 20mm Thru-axle. This fork is tough enough to tackle the trails and keep on going. This Thunderbird has a 12T steel cassette driver paired with a 25T Eastern Phorcys alloy Chainwheel. This provides a comfortable all around gear ratio of around 3.9, or 4.3 meters development. To help move this bike along, it’s fashioned with a durable half-link chain. Half link chains add a degree of control over your wheel base with horizontal drop outs.

The Thunderbird is a fantastic Dirt Jumper with a strong component build. This bike is strong where it needs to be while remaining comfortable where it matters. If you’re looking for a bike with great components that won’t break the bank, then the thunderbird is for you.

Comments about Eastern Thunderbird Bike 2013:

The only serious thing I dislike about this build is the front fork. It has a bizzare preload system that requires a coin to adjust. The manual that comes with the fork is pretty much completely useless as it is poorly written and not specific to the fork. I've also noticed that the covers that protect the bearings in the wheels have a habit of coming loose and falling off. I have almost lost one on two occasions and the wheels do not fit the fork without them. The quick release on the front fork is questionable, and I'm not entirely sure if I trust it. The frame itself is fun and everything else on the bike is nice for dirt jumping and mild single track.

Comments about Eastern Thunderbird Bike 2013:

I got this bike mainly for dirt jumping and it is perfect for it. suspension is very good has great rebound and helps for with dirt jumping and when you over jump. the tire treads are perfect for dirt,(don't ride fast on wet tarmac and brake you will skid off) the tires are good for everything else, iv had the bike for 4 mouths and the pedals are still in good condition only just changed the grips but the grips still have life in them for a lot longer, i have done dirt jumping on the bike and it perfect , i have done downhill but only in a wet pine forest which was slippery and only having rear break meant i couldn't slow down super well but would be good downhill if dry, the gear ratio is perfect for all round riding as i have also taking my bike on a BMX track and its super smooth and hit the jumps well and i have done some mountain bike riding as well which the thunderbird is great at, were i live there is a long walk way along the beach and its great to cruise on if you just want to chill and do nothing crazy, the seat on this bike is so nice to sit on, if your watching mates jump or cruising, its the best bike seat iv ever had!!, the brakes are good, they have saved me a couple of times when you need to pull out of a jump and to slow down if your going to fast, the wheels can nearly spin forever so you can just keep going after a hill, all together i recommend the Eastern Thunderbird, if your looking in on getting this bike then you so should, 5 out of 5!!
