These tires came on my 2011 Giant Anthem 29er. Tires were Non UST 29 x 2.1 Tubular. I weigh 160 and ran the front tire at 35lbs and the rear at 40lbs. I have to say that these are the fastest tires on the market. I was able to fly over the hard-pack and loose-over-hard pack trails with ease. These tires will truly go as fast as you want them to go. EXTREMELY LOW ROLLING RESISTANCE. With that said, speed comes at a price.
These tires do not perform well in the following conditions: Sand, Mud and Steep Climbs on loose-over hard pack. As for mildly deep sand (2-4 inches), this tire swerves all over the place up front, the the rear will keep you spinning, so go slow. For the mud, these tires were obviously not meant for it. It attracts our Oklahoma clay and will just stick to it and not fling it off, creating a solid bead of nothing but mud. And going up short steep climbs, I found the rear tire slipped constantly when I was out of the saddle. So get the speed you need before the climb, the stay on the saddle on the way up.
I did get a pinch flat up front attacking a wooden bridge with a 5 inch step gap but I ran the front tire at 25lbs, way below the recommended psi.
I gave these tires a 5 star because I've ridden Geax Saguaro's 2.2 and Geax AKA's 2.2 and they are no match for the speed of the CrossMAX. They do have a little more grip, but a TON of more rolling resistance. I felt the difference within the first 20 ft of riding.
If you like/need to go fast, these tires are for you as long as you can sacrifice a little grip. Great on the long straights and excellent on downhill sections. I will buy another set in tubeless next time and do another review.

Comments about Maxxis Crossmark 29'Er MTB Tire:
Been out of cycling for several years so I upgraded to a 29er single speed to get back into the sport. This is a great rear tire, but it is pricey. Hopefully it will last.

Tire is lite and durable. I find it's a fantastic rear tire with great wear. Tried on the front but did not find it worked as well.

Comments about Maxxis Crossmark 29'Er MTB Tire:
I have these on my HT xc bike. These are great on the trails when they are dry. They are excellent when the trails are tacky. They roll fast and are light. When the trail conditions get bad with sticky slick mud is when loose their traction and slip. These shed mud very well

Comments about Maxxis Crossmark 29'Er MTB Tire:
I just switched to this in the rear over my stock Small Block 8 and I am truly blown away! I always thought the SB8 was THE race tire, but after trying the Crossmark in the rear, I felt it outperform the SB8 in all categories! This tire rolls better and seems to have tons more braking and cornering traction.
I paired the Crossmark rear with an Ignitor up front and I am all set! Really smooth rolling and I can pick up speed quickly, while still having enough bite when things get messy!

Rolls fast. I was able to mount it tubless on Bontrager Ranger rims with a Stans kit, but I needed a compressor to do it.
Comments about Maxxis Crossmark 29'Er MTB Tire:
Replaced a pair of Geax Saguaros with 2000 miles and will never look back. I paired the Ignitor (front) and the Crossmark (back) to tackle the local So Cal Fire Roads and single tracks. Awesome grip on loose over hard in the front and fast rolling all purpose grip in the back. I am so impressed with the front grip I might consider going Ignitor all around next time. Thanks to Tom and Mike at the Corona store.
Comments about Maxxis Crossmark 29'Er MTB Tire:
Great tire! I will continue to buy this for this bike as long as they are available. only giving it 4 stars because nothing is perfect.
Comments about Maxxis Crossmark 29'Er MTB Tire:
If you are looking for a lite quick tire for use in dry hard pack the Crossmark is the one. But as I mentioned above, be careful with the sidewalls. Now that the price has dropped a little I will certainly keep buying them.
