The 5050 series pedals were completely redesigned by Crank Brothers this year. The 5050 2 is the more budget oriented pedal, but still gets the two piece aluminum + polycarbonate platform and is much lighter at 428g

I've had these pedals on my Rockhopper for about 6 months now and love these pedals compared to the cheapie plastic ones. The small cleats grip my shoes well and never feel like they will ever slip off. Bearings on these are top notch so these should last the life of the bike if not longer.
