I purchased these pedals to replace my cheap toe clips. These are my first clipless pedals, and it was a good choice. The platforms are small enough to keep weight down and still allow you to unclip and remain stable, pretty much. The cleats have the option to unclip at different angles, just by swapping shoe sides. For a new clipless user like me, that is very helpful. I still fell a few times, like an idiot, in front of people. I'm sure I'm on youtube now.
The weight is lower than many more expensive models and brands, and the design is just as good. I wish they were grey or black, because the white gets dirty quick, but it does clean pretty easy. I have only put about 75 miles on them, but these pedals make those miles very easy.
I weigh 170lbs and have really pushed the pedals hard during stand-up sprints. I haven't tried airing to test the axle strength, and don't really plan to, since that's not what I use this bike for. For long distance hardtop riding and even rocky trails they hold well. So well, I couldn't pull my foot off the pedal when I needed to and ended up on my back with the wheels in the air. Another youtube moment. When you twist your foot, they unclip properly. You just need to remember to do it.
For those of you new to clipless pedals, learn how to use the clippy things really well before doing slow speed maneuvers while clipped in, or climbing technical sections. Do your stretches before riding, especially your ankles and shoulders. When you fall while clipped in, you will twist your ankle under, and land on your knee and hands, hopefully without putting the bar end through your sternum. Put the cleats on the narrow release angle and twist your heel outward to release. And read the instructions.
Overall, once I got used to clipless rules, and healed, they worked great for me and I will never go back to toe clips.

Comments about CrankBrothers Crank Brothers Candy 1 LTD Edition Pedal:
I picked up the Candy pedals, and decided to get Crank Brothers a shot. I was a tad skeptical with how much support the pedal would offer but I am pleasantly surprised. I'm a few races in and I have definitely fallen in love with these pedals. They offer amazing float, which is nice when setting up in turns or on the starting gate. I have yet to come unclipped even under heavy pedaling and some fat whips.
I'm stoked on these pedals! I'm not sure if ill ever go back to SPD types.

Comments about CrankBrothers Crank Brothers Candy 1 LTD Edition Pedal:
My SPD pedals broke and I choose to replace them with these pedals. I love how they install using an 8mm Allen key. The platform is just big enough to make a quick trip with shoes or flip flops on. I bought these pedals and threw them right into my bike box and flew to Costa Rica. Installed them when I hit the ground and proceeded to ride 450 miles. They worked awesome.
