This pedal definitely provides grip. I have no fear of my shoes slipping off during any sort of technical terrain, drops, or wet conditions. The pedal platform itself has taken some hard hits against boulders and remains strong. The screws only have a couple of threads and it only took a week for me to lose one. Though that can be expected when the bottom of the pedal hits a boulder hard. However, you get spares, and I may end up removing them all from one side so I don't have to worry about knocking any more out against rocks. Little thicker and heavier than I'd like, but overall a great pedal.

These are heavy. Yes. But they are also ridiculously strong, smooth spinning, and BRUTALLY grippy.
The set screws are seriously sharp and grippy. Doesn't matter what shoes you wear. You definitely don't want to take these to the calf or shin. They don't get sheared off, and are easily removed if bent or smashed. Ride these on rock gardens and they hold up really well.
If you want some crazy color pedals and aren't a weight weenie, look no further. Good price too.
To note, they are much yellower than in the pictures but the name is terrifically accurate. Think highlighter.

I used these platforms on a trail bike and they worked great. They provided plenty of grip and the large surface area made them very comfortable. However, there are only a few threads holding the grub screws into the platform and one was easily ripped from the pedal after a minor contact with a rock.

I have the platforms on my Giant AC, my freeride rig for now. These pedals are great, they do not slip. Period. Strong and reliable for sure. They weigh a little more than higher end pedals like Straitline, but work just as well. If not better! Definately recommended.
