Great all-rounder for a medium-travel 29'er. CVA is the real deal. Pedals great, plenty of plush on the DH.

Comments about Niner Rip 9 W/RP23 Frame:

I love this bike. It made me a better rider right from the start. This bike has taken everything that I've thrown at it, and asked for more. I also own The Jet 9 RDO and this bike climbs almost as well and is 5 lbs heavier. CVA linkage is amazing. I never use propedal,I just get on the bike and ride. I built mine with the fox talas 34,X.0 drivetrain, American classic wheels, formula R1 brakes, and got the weight down to 27 lbs.

Comments about Niner Rip 9 W/RP23 Frame:

I bought my RIP a bit over a year ago. Wow what a ride. I am a clydesdale and it holds up really great to abuse. I put the 142x12 rear axle on it and that was well worth the marginal additional cost. Talk about stiff rear triangle!

This bike just really rolls. It does everything I ask it to. Fast rolling smooth single track, no problem. Maybe not the best but does it well. Rock gardens, no problem. Maybe not the best but does it well. Hill climbs, goes up great, maybe not the best, but no problem. Down hill, it is all behind you by now, better bikes. Sure. Now put all that in to every ride where you can't just switch out bikes. That is what I ride every time. Now That is where the RIP truly shines. It just takes it all and keeps going.

This is really not a race bike. You want to just go fast, there are better options. Want to enjoy every second and forget about the bike under you with every peddle stroke? ride a Niner RIP!

Look past the price tag. Worth every penny!

I have the 2010 version of this frame built with Rockshox Reba forks. This bike looks and handles very well. I use it for cross country, all mountain and have even had it on the Brian Head chair lifts. This is a great bike one quiver bike and mine is built up around 29 pounds with dropper post.

Comments about Niner Rip 9 W/RP23 Frame:

If you could only have one rig for all your riding this would be an excellent choice. As it stands, I have several more specialized trail bikes but they haven't been touched since this one was built out. At 5'10" w/ a 30" inseam the small frame fits perfect. No front tire/shoe grind. It's a very well rounded cruiser. The through-hub rear axle is a nice option but you probably don't need it.

Comments about Niner Rip 9 W/RP23 Frame:

This bike is a nice bike, i really like mine. It can handle anything you can throw at it. Set up with XO Drive train and Fox Front and rear, it is about as nice of a build i can still stand to beat on. it climbs well, and descends even better.

The bike is a bit heavy when compared to a XC race machine, but that is not what this bike is about.

Now for the not so awesome: The bottom bracket sits a bit lower then most every other bike i have ridden, thus there is a lot of pedal scrape in turns and over obsticals where you have to keep the cranks turning. That has brought me to turning. It is a Long Full Suspension 29er, so nothing in that sentence says that it is a nimble bike, but turning it is like turning a Mack truck in an ice storm. It is kind of slow and all over the place. If there are berms, then all is well.

All in all I love this bike, just keep in mind it is not for racing!

Comments about Niner Rip 9 W/RP23 Frame:

This a great frame, I have the 2009 version, and performs great, paired with a 120mm Fox RL fork is a great machine, a little heavy (29lbs the entire bike for a Small size, my previous Kona Hei Hei was 27.5 lbs with pretty much the same components).

But for a 29er with all-mountain capabilities, it is a great weight, would recommend it any day. Make sure you get tubless tires.
