Instead of buying my beloved Maxxis crossmark.. I purchased this tire for the cheap price... So I went from great to poor tires(Which I assumed)....
After riding and installing... I'd have to say best tires period for single track! Mud sheds fast! It bites in turns! Great traction at fast speeds! Works great in muddy conditions! They are almost as high rolling as my cross marks but I get way more tration when it comes into burms... Great tires % star all the way!

I wanted something for the wet and muddy conditions of the Oregon Coast Range. These shed mud fantastically; so well that by time I got home on my first ride with them there was barely any mud on the tire, but the other tire's tread was packed with mud. They hold on leaves and roots as well.
I'm going to air these up and see how heavy they feel on pavement. Whenever I'm on pavement at trail pressures, these are slow and heavy as others have said.
Weight weenie nitpick: they were nearly 20% over spec on the weight even though the packaging said +/-5%.

Replaced a Nevegal DTC 2.1 with the Excavator. This review is for the 2.1 size. The first thing I noticed is that the tire was quiet and rolling resistance was much less. It hooks up just as good as a Nevegal, maybe better. I run a Blue Groove 2.35 (F) and now the Excavator 2.1 (R) both DTC. I might even get a 2.35 for the front when the Blue Groove wears out. Good in wet, rocks, snow, mud. All around great tire!

Used on the front of my xc hard tail. Rolls much faster and leans better than the nevegal I had up there. It has great grip levels and has been great on all the dry conditions ive tried it on, hardpack, loose over hardpack, rocks. Havent tried it in the wet/mud or roots. Allows you to go much faster and deeper into corners with out wondering if the tire will slide out. Pumped up it works as great as a knobbie can work on the streets. Great tire if you dont want to sacrifice grip for speed. Folding tire installed super easy

I have been riding on this tire for a few months now and its done very well so far. I ride in Florida so on a hot day its sandy and loose and the next day its muddy, both conditions haven't stopped this tire from tearing through a trail.

Im really liking these tires. I had the Nevegals, but I think the Excavators roll a little bit faster, yet still grip really nice. Zero regrets so far. Unless I exp something bad later on, I'll be buying these again.

I completely agree with what Tim the tool man wrote-these things make you feel like you are pedalling through mud all the time. I bought these and put them on my new bike, but Im going to switch back to my WTB tires and see if its much faster. These tires have the best grip in sand Ive ever seen, and I had Kenda Nevegals before the WTB tires
