I used to use a dedicated hard soled mountain bike shoe. Then I went to the Jenson will call store one day and saw these on sale. I liked the way they looked. Much more casual looking than a standard riding shoe plus they looked like you could hike in them if needed. Something that's much harder to do in a traditional riding shoe. So I took a chance and bought them. They have become my favorite and only riding shoes now. They work great with clipless pedals and the soles are solid. No play or flex and you can "hike a bike" with them as well. Also they are comfortable enough to wear out to a post ride meal.

I really like these shoes. These are my first pair of clipless MTB shoes. I received them on Monday April 29, 2013. On Thursday May 16, 2013 (Less than 1 month of use 3-4x a week) I noticed a tear on the inside upper portion of the right shoe where your big toe bends. I ride in AZ where trails are rocky. I am not sure if I caught it on a rock or the shoe is just weak on this part of the shoe from flexing. I am still using the shoes and I like them a lot. I just wish the uppers would have lasted a little longer.

Great Shoe at a Great Price

    By Jeff

    About Me Casual/ Recreational

    Verified Buyer

    Pros

    • Durable Sole
    • Good for Walking
    • Laces And Not Velcro
    • Well Ventilated

    Cons

    • Sole Depth At Cleat

    Best Uses

    • Everyday riding

Comments about Shimano MT33 SPD MTB Shoes:

Recent foot discomfort provoked new shoes with a bit of room. These are great. Desire for more flexibility in how tight to make the shoe favors laces and not Velcro, a hard thing anymore to find. The only challenge was that the CrankeBrothers cleat needed shimming to allow the attachment of the shoe to the pedal without binding. A couple of washers did the trick.

Comments about Shimano MT33 SPD MTB Shoes:

Purchased these shoes for riding in southwest FL. Wanted something with decent ventilation & that can be walked in easily. So far, these Shimanos have worked out well. The sole is not super stiff & the cleats are recessed, so they can be walked in w/out the funky bike shoe gait. They are a nice compromise for riding clip less & the price can't be beat.
As for sizing, I have a wide foot and these shoes fit a little tight initially, but broke in easily.

Comments about Shimano MT33 SPD MTB Shoes:

Shoes are really good, but my suggestion is to take 0.5 size more large in future, cause one I've bought is not small, but feels like I need little bit more space for my big finger :D. These are my first clipless shoes, so I was little bit nervous about experience of ride bike with cliped in legs, but the fact is that it's very easy to clip in and out!!!! And your performance will be highly increased with this shoes!!!

Comments about Shimano MT33 SPD MTB Shoes:

Excellent value if you can find em in your size for sale. Nice comfortable fit. As with most clip pedals the cleats still dig into hard surfaces.
And they still have that dreaded crunching sound. There was a hope that these would not.

Comments about Shimano MT33 SPD MTB Shoes:

Can't beat the price. Great beginner/intermediate shoe. Slightly narrow, but not overly so. Elastic band works fell to keep laces out of the way. Perfect for commuting or trail riding. All around solid shoe, not flashy but gets the job done.

I have had these shoes for 3 weeks & ridden approx. 250 miles. So far they have been great. Excellent fit & comfort. Stiff soles good for riding, but also look nice and are comfortable for limited walks. Wouldn't use them for hiking, but that's not their purpose.

These shoes are too heavy. The right shoe feels slightly bigger than the left. They don't breath as well as my other shoes and are uncomfortable to walk in even without cleats.

My old Lake shoes have none of the negatives mentioned above and unlike these, they even have built in reflectors.

On the positive side, they seem to have tough soles.

I have only wore these shoes twice and would rate these as average at best.
