The Air 9 is Niner’s alloy racing hardtail, designed to be fast and light. Constructed from Easton’s GX2 Scandium alloy, the Air 9 is XC light, without compromising stiffness or durability. It also features S-bend chainstays and seatstays for increased mud and heel clearance. The 29” wheel, from which Niner takes their name, is favored for XC riding due to its excellent rolling efficiency and improved angle of attack due to its larger size. This translate to a smoother, more efficient ride that is exactly what you need when doing a grueling climb or endless miles of rolling single track. This custom build from Jenson USA uses a Fox Float 29 to soften up the ride and combines quality components from Shimano, SRAM, and Race Face to create a bike that is well suited for hard XC riding and can even handle some all- mountain as well.

Comments about Niner Air 9 Custom Build Bike:

Started with the one9, but due to a change in terrain I decided to go back to gears. This bike has everything you need and nothing you dont. Love the 29in wheels, roll fast and over anything. You can't go wrong with niner.

Comments about Niner Air 9 Custom Build Bike:

Bought this bike based on the recommendation of a friend and I couldn't be happier. It is a great bike, especially for the money.

I just started mountain biking with friends this spring and I've been borrowing different bikes trying to figure out what I wanted in my own bike before laying out the $$$ for one. I'm not sure that my experiences will be very useful to other purchasers since I am a relative noob at mountain biking and the bikes I rode before were not the best (or at least not necessarily set up in the best way for me), but I find the Air9 to be very responsive and it just seems to glide over rough terrain. I think it takes sharp cutbacks very well and it just feels powerful once I get moving. I really enjoy this bike in the conditions I've ridden so far. The tires are great in sandy/rocky terrain, sand-covered hardpack, high desert single track but really sluggish on pavement (that's probably not surprising but I thought it might be worth mentioning that it just feels like it sticks to pavement). I haven't had a chance to test it in wetter conditions but I'm looking forward to it.

The raw scandium paint job looks great.

The stock grips were not comfortable and moreover one of them continually twisted around the handlebar. A bit sketchy for me, always wondering if it was going to twist off while I was headed downhill. Replaced them with Odi Rogues which made a huge difference for me.

Comments about Niner Air 9 Custom Build Bike:

Ugly Welds: The frame welds are not pretty. Looks like they were placed by a blind man on a Friday afternoon.Pro Build BS: The bike wasn't even close to tuned. Front and rear derailers are way off. Brakes rub. Not what you would hope with a brand spanken new bike, especially when it took nearly (2) weeks to deliver.Seat Post: I spoke to a rep at Jenson before purchasing to see if I was getting the right size. Turns out the guy I was talking with had almost the exact same build as me so I took his advice. The frame was ok, but the seat post was way too short. It felt like I was riding a clown bike.Grips: OK, I know Jenson is trying to save some money on this build but foam rubber handle bar grips? Really?

Comments about Niner Air 9 Custom Build Bike:

Great bike that rides really well, high bottom bracket and massive wheels gave me a new level of confidence in technical terrain. The wheel base is much longer than any other bike I own and I'm still getting used to how the back wheel tracks.

Bike arrived with some bent pieces in the front disc brake and apparently a bent piece on the rear disc break as well. Couldn't fix these at home and when I brought them to the shop was told there was no way to adjust the front brake such that the disc did not rub as some of the internal pieces were bent. I was charged ~$20 at the shop to have them fixed. Also, the front brake cable was poorly installed and rubs on the front tire causing the housing to be abraided away; currently it's being held on with some extra hair ties. These are really minor issues and overall I think I got a great deal. I would recommend purchaing from Jenson and may do so again in the future. Still, Jenson should not advertise a fully adjusted bike build and then deliver a bike with parts that are not installed correctly and/or broken and bent.
