This is my first experience with SLX level components. I'm using these on my mountain bike paired with SLX components for riding and racing.
My initial impression is that these are great for the $$. Shifting has been accurate although not as crisp as XT or X.9. Two features I don't like about these: 1) The pods seem very large. Other shifters are more compact than these. 2) I don't really like the feel of plastic trigger covers. I prefer the alloy triggers on XT or X.9.
As far as durability and quality goes- these are high quality components that will last for years.
I would recommend these to a friend looking for a dependable, economical drivetrain, but I think I'll save up the extra $50 and go with XT next time.
