The Consigliere is the weapon of choice when fighting dehydration. You won’t feel the bag flopping around on your back. With ninja like characteristics, the Consigliere stays glued to your back as you bomb down some serious single track. Refresh you pallet with 70 ounces of delicious crisp, clean, cool water. The locking bite valve ensures H20 molecules aren’t lost between sips.
The reservoir is encased in a bright, beautiful, bold colored pack with many hidden features. Once you stuff in your rain jacket, multi- tools, tubes, pump, and food, you’ll still have room for some of your buddies’ stuff. Buckle on your full face helmet and body armor onto the outside of the pack. Jam out on your rides, there is a hidden media pocket to stick your MP3 player in. To keep your back cool, there is an air mesh harness, and the back panel uses six breathable cushioned pads to create an air flow channel. Cool air comes through this channel and helps to push out the warm air.

Big/Heavy - Maybe OK for a 1st Pack

First of all I have a total of 6 different water packs - 3 that are hydrapak brand and 3 that are camelbak brand. They are all various sizes and capacities.
I am returning the consigliere because it is:
1) heavy and bulky. Compared to the camelbak mule, which is a good size pack and my 2nd heaviest pack, this pack is heavier and bulkier.
2) only 70oz of water for such a heavy large pack
It seems to have a large storage capacity, but I didn't expect it to be quite as big and heavy as it is for a 70oz pack. I also envisioned it a bit sleeker, which it is not.
To me it doesn't make sense to have this really big bulky pack that only carries 70oz of water, at least not for me as a biker. I'm looking for lighter and sleeker, and if I need to carry that much stuff, it means I'm out for 4-6 hours of strenuous riding and will be needing all the water I can carry.
If you are not an avid biker or someone else who is trying to minimize weight and size on long excursions, and you can get along with 70oz, this is probably fine for you as a first pack. Especially if you get a good price.
But I dont' think it compares to the other ones I've used

Used this pack for about 6 months so far. I can NOT report a single problem. I love it. I pack my entire tool box in this and I still can find more space for a candy bar.

Comments about Camelbak Consigliere Hydration Pack 2011:
Good thing I'm a tall woman because this pack would be way too long for a shorter torso. Storage space is good, in 2 separate pockets. Has a nice additional padded phone or camera pocket at the top of the pack. Bladder is great.
The cinch straps on the side don't really help cinch and they are really long. In bad weather last week I used these cinch straps to attach my jacket to the outside of the pack. But my jacket had to be on the side of the pack, rather than in the middle. There are no straps to attach anything to the middle of the pack.

Comments about Camelbak Consigliere Hydration Pack 2011:
Many improvements have been made over my old CamelBak HAWG. The strap management really helps and the reservoir and tube are much easier to use and maintain. The harness and back panel are easier on the shoulders and cooler than most other packs I've had. The pockets and main compartment are well laid out. This pack is surprisingly large, comparable to my HAWG. It's almost more of a regular backpack than a hydration pack. I would use it for situations where I needed to carry more stuff than water. Otherwise, a HAWG or MULE with the 100 oz reservoir would be more appropriate for high-hydration trips. A short-term test didn't reveal any leaks in the valve, but this has been a concern in the new reservoirs. The colors in this line of packs have attracted some negative comments, but I find the green and blue one appealing. It's a lot of pack for the money.

I got this on clearance so I thought I'd try it. I was alittle surprised at how big it is. It seems about the same size as my camelbak mule. and my large hydrapak paks that I reserve for winter riding when I need to carry lots of various layers. So in that case 70oz is usually enough because you don't drink as much when it's cold.
It also seems a little heavier than I expected, and seems heavier than hydrapaks , but at the clearance price I'm ok with it. I'm sure it will be put to good use. I would not have wanted to pay full price for it though.

This is a great do it all camelback for a smoking deal. The blue/green color doesnt match my bike or any of my gear but its a nice high visibility color great when I have to squeeze through traffic in between trails. the size is great too. Not to small, not big enough for my garage tool set. I will gift one for sure.

Many people complains about the straps, but for me its not a problem, cause I use them to attach my helmet when im going up a hill. space is limited but well, it is the sacrifice you have to do for weight right?, I think is a very good product and Im thinking on getting another.
