This seatpost started to develop a significant bend with less than 150 miles of use. Granted I'm on the heavier side (220 lbs), but it was inserted to at least an inch and a half above the limit line. Most of my riding is commuting with some trail riding but I rarely ride over curbs or big drops. I replaced it as quickly as I could. Fortunately, I now have a nice new addition to my collection of bent tubular metal objects.

My 2010 Jamis Satellite Sport came with an incredibly cheapo seatpost. Jamis' website said it was a 27.2mm, so I ordered a nice Nitto for it.
NOT a 27.2. It wouldn't even go in. So, I dug the old one outta the garbage, read its size (why didn't I do this in the 1st place?). 26.6...huh!
That's an odd one. So this was one of the few ones I could find in that size.
Nicely made, definitely not...light. Like one guy said, you could beat somebody to death with this thing! Well, it's strong, looks decent.
Prob is, it slips as badly as the stock one did!
So, I'm ordering a 26.8mm, gonna CRAM it in there, dammit. The steel seat tube should stretch enough. I don't care...I'm sick of slipping saddle syndrome.
So...put this on your beater/commuter/tourer/vintage roadie, what have you. Not your nice new carbon roadie. I'm not sure if the slipping is its fault, or my seat tube is off spec, so I'm giving it some benefit of the doubt.

I was looking for something inexpensive to replace the missing seat post on an older 10-speed (1986 Schwinn Sprint). It was a gift, needed some work, so I converted it to a single speed. This was exactly what I needed!

I got this as part of the basic MTB build kit. I've been upgrading parts of my AM/XC bike to lighter and stonger, and this is the next piece to go. It's the last heavy piece on my bike and you can feel the ~1 pound it adds. Do yourself a favor, and upgrade to something lighter. But if you ride in extreme DH where the 1 pound doesn't matter, or in urban areas where you can use a bar as a weapon, then this is the post for you.
