THis chain is superb, it is smooth, strong, stays CLEAN ( u need to wash it) and most important remains shiny after a good clean. This is my second season n has already done over 2k Kms. Have recently ordered another one from Jenson as a store item. Use Lemonde Oil and wash using park tool chain cleaner. Recently orderd Rock N Roll Gold after reading gr8 reviews will try and update this post.
Still use the 9 speed shifting (shifters chain casettee rest is standard for 9 or 10)as it is sturdy but not necessary cheaper. took Advice of gr8 Sheldon Brown to use 9 speed chain with 9 speed components as they will last longer which is fact so dont be tempted to go for 10 speed chains in this category.
Perfect score due to performance and Price.

Easy to install although a master link would make it easier. This chain stopped skipping problems I experienced with another mfr. chain.
On my second one of these - first one lasted many miles, never had any issues with it, just eventually wore out. Decent price, good quality, haven't broken it yet!

Anyone using higher end Shimano components should use this chain, I find it to be the most reliable and easy to maintain of any I have used.
I use these chains on both my MTB & road bikes with no breaking problems. Keep them well lubricated (as you would any chain) and clean them occasionally. I run them for about 12-18 months before repacement.
In a nutshell, I am absolutely devoted to the 7701 chains, as they give reliability to the area of the bike where most problems occur: Drivetrain. No matter what bike I have put them on, they hold up even when frames and freehubs give up!
Much quieter than my outgoing chain (not sure what it was, whatever came stock on my bike). Not anymore expensive than a "lesser" chain. Works perfect (of course) with my XT cassette.
great product, no problems so far. Works well with Simano driveline. Not worth buying unless you desperately need a new chain. I had a cheap shimano chain and it worked almost as well. Buy this if you like spending money.
