Most of the complaints I hear from others just aren't terribly valid. If your cranks spin, for example, your chain tension is too tight. With a freewheel, if you need to slow down, of course you need to use the brakes. Every freewheel wobbles lightly, as does nearly every freehub cassette. It's a solid product for the price. It's not a perfect product, but it's fine.

Solid & Reliable
I have the 20t and a 17t version on my Surly Karate Monkey. It came with the 17t, and I put the 20t on to make it a bit easier to pedal. I rode the 20t for three years until it finally gave out in the middle of a ride. I bought another 20t, but ended up throwing the 17t on to get a better workout on my rides.

These freewheels aren't the lightest, but they are solid. I figure three years and well over 1,000 miles of strain on it has more than proved its ability. I'll probably buy a couple more in different sizes to keep on hand just to change up my work outs now and then.

PROS: Durable, Easy To Install

CONS: Heavy

Great freewheels
Run both a 18 and 16 tooth depending on where I'm riding. They hold up very well and have been problem free thus far.

PROS: Durable

Shimano DX freewheel sprocket
This is the gold standard when it comes to BMX freewheels. Had the competitors very expensive freewheel fail causing a HUGE wipeout! Now that I am healed I am back to the tried and true Shimano product. Never failed yet.

It works ok
I got this orriginally for my single speed mountain bike. Didn't like the engagement and felt like there was a bit more resistance. I went back to my Excess Freewheels. Won't be using this as a primary again any time soon. It lives for now on the flip side of my Surly Steamroller as a emergency back up for fixed riding.

PROS: Common Tool Size, It works

CONS: Costs more, Slower Engagement

not bad, could be better
I've used the 17T version for many years, they don't last a long time, but it's a lot of bang for the buck. I can't find a better one for the money, so I'll keep on with Shimano

PROS: Easy To Install, works

CONS: Loud clicky

Does it's job
I used it as a freewheel option on a fixie. It's easy to install. It makes some noise, but it's not as bad some other options out there. You get what you pay for.

PROS: price

CONS: A little noisy

BEST USES: Casual, Commuting

Just add oil
The price has shot up almost 2.5 times on these. I bought 3 about 7 years ago and am still using my first one. I dribbled some heavy oil (like Finish Line Winter/Wet or Phil Tenacious) into the the mechanism and it is quiet and smooth now. No dissasembly required.

I have this freewheel installed on my singlespeed bike ridden in the wet and rainy months.

PROS: Inexpensive

CONS: Cheap

BEST USES: URBAN, Cheap, Commuter

I'm going to need a new freewheel, it'll be worth the money. These lasted about 15 rides smoothly... about a dollar per ride, that ain't good.

See weaknesses
See weaknesses. Gets the job done and the price makes it hard to complain too much. Spend the extra money for something better, I'm going to. I just wanted something to start with to get the bike on the trails. Even at 11 bucks though, I expected more from Shimano.
