Before I start, I am a 160lbs and ride very agressive. Use judgment on what I say in cordinaition to your weight and riding style...Great if use for what is specified, like with anything in life. From what I have found, they are one of the best deals around. I tured to Jenson due to extreme prices at local shops. My shop was looking for $250 for similar. Not fully sure how these stack against the rhyno's but looks are much better. I have been using the single track as a benchmark and these are holding us well. In the time that I have had them, I have yet to need trueing. When they came, they were a little out of tension. As a rule of thumb, any time you buy wheelsets online, have your shop look them over before riding. Tire changing is a bit of a skill with this rim. It can be hard due to shallow channel and if you are looking to do a tire size over 1.95 it will be hard due to how narrow the rim is. I have 2.3s on here now so it is possible. I tried steel bead for a while and it was very hard. After they were broken-in they were not so bad. Kevlar was very easy first time. Good set of plastic tire levers is a must! You will be hard pressed to find a lighter wheelset anywhere near this price range that will hold up. If you have the money, i would have gone with the singletrack wheelset. I have those and they are amazing. Both of these can take all that I have thrown at them. I would not consider it a good ride unless there is a 2-3ft drop.

I bought these wheels to add disc brakes to my bike. I'm starting to regret that decision.First, these wheels are way heaver than the wheels I was replacing. Second, riding with them feels like I'm riding through mud all the time... I have no idea what causes that. They spin freely but I definitely have to pedal harder to tackle hills. But the worst thing of all is that the rear hub wobbles around the axle, which of course causes havoc with both caliper alignment and rear derailleur tuning. Both Shimano and JensonUSA refused to acknowledge anything was wrong, insisting that I hadn't fully seated the axle. This wouldn't cause a *wobble* unless the axle itself was moving, and it was secured snugly to the frame. I had it checked out by the local bike shop and they agreed the problem was with the hub: you can watch it wobbling as it spins around the axle. Neither Shimano nor Jenson offered any concession for the faulty product.I'm rating the product three stars instead of two because it's cheap, and if you get a good set I'm sure it would at least *work*, though I'm not sure if you'd still experience the 'riding through mud' sensation I did. The main issue here is with JensonUSA, which sucks because they do have great selection and good prices.... just not so great customer service.

I tried to get a set...

By Matt

from Tyler, Tx United States

I tried to get a set of wire bead tires on once, had the whole kitchen worth of spoons and forks using them as tire levers with two friends to get them on, true story. Whenever you do get the tires on you have probably poked a hole in the tube and need to start over again. They are a nightmare with any type of bead. Just buy something better.

By John

For the price, these are good solid wheels. I've used these for hard XC riding and some XC racing. No drops to flats over 2 ft. With this use in mind, these wheels have performed admirably. The weight is competitive... sure you can pay double or triple the price to save a couple hundred grams.I did have to check the adjustment of the hubs. These are Shimano m525 hubs, there shouldn't be any surprises, they are adjustable. If it feels like you are riding in "mud" or if they "wobble" like some other reviewers have commented, buy a couple cone wrenches and go to the Park tool website and learn how to adjust a hub!! I don't understand why some people give bad product reviews if something is just not set-up correctly.

my over all experience has been sheer dissapointment with this product. The wheel spokes keep breaking because the spokes are so horrible. I would not recommend these to my worst enemy. Shame on you jenson usa for selling this junk!

Decent performance...

By Tonton

from Frisco, Tx

Decent performance for the price. I mean, it's ridiculously cheap! BUT it is almost impossible to mount tires on them. Getting a flat is torture. Especially on the trail. Managed to break tire levers and puncture my tubes a number of times just by trying to put my Nevegals on. Had to walk back home on a sweet trail one time because I ran out of levers, tubes and patches. In a perfect world, where no one gets flats, these would be great. I'm not even kidding or exaggerating. They really ARE that difficult. I read about it before, and I figured I could handle it. I guess I got what i paid for. If you're considering these, you might also wanna get slime tubes while you're at it. Less chances of getting flats mean less likely you're gonna wanna smash it with a rock.

By Mark

Excellent for the price, light weight and sleek design. By far it will hold up for light to mid freeriding, trail and light XC. I have not tried it on extreme ride yet with average drops & bumps. Deore 525 Hubs are average at best. I consider these 4 levels better than my original velocity wheelsets. This is a good set of wheels for trail/ XC use.

By John

from Fort Rucker, Al.

I've put over 1000 miles on these hubs/rims (yeah, I actuallly keep a log). About half road and half dirt/track riding. I've only needed to repack the bearings twice, and re tune the spokes once. Given the value saved and the infrequent maintenance required, these are, without a doubt, the best wheels I've ever owned. I only mark them down one for weight.

I am 185 pounds. After 2000 miles of light XC these wheels are true and solid.
