These have been around almost as long as I've been mountain biking, and are a consistently solid, strong product. These wheels are not snakebite proof, but stay round. They are heavy, but I run double wall tires to run low pressure and these work well for the up and the down b/c. Low pressure absolutely helps traction. I run about 18lbs, and can roll over anything.
Shimano hubs are by far the best bang for the buck, as no one wants a hub to go, which would mean rebuilding the whole wheel. If your freehub goes, that can be replaced as well, which is NOT the case with Formula.:(

Sun Rhyno Lite rims have been around for a while. When built well, they will last forever in heavy street/moderate single track MTB applications. These were a good fit for the single speed street/mtb V-Brake frame I installed them on. Shimano hubs are - well - hubs. As far as a body of aluminum that holds the axle, bearings, and spokes, they do the job. I replaced my rear axle with a thru--bolt since I built a SS, and after looking at the factory grease, or lack thereof, I cleaned and repacked both hubs with Phil Wood grease. At this price point, I am assuming that these were machine built, but they were relatively straight, dished, and trued, although I did take out a couple small wobbles and re-tensioned the wheels, mostly to make myself feel better. All in all, not a bad wheel set for the money. Just give them a once over before you ride 'em.

Comments about Shimano Deore Disc/Rhyno Lite Wheelset:
Very hard to mount and remove tires on these wheels for some reason. As a plus, I am pretty sure a flat tire won't come off the rim.

Comments about Shimano Deore Disc/Rhyno Lite Wheelset:
Been out on these a few times and have had no issues so far. Wheels came straight & true.
Only issue was front hub was a little to tight.
Bought these to upgrade to Disc brakes.
Price is good for what you are getting.

Can't beat these for the price. Bought as replacement for a commuter with rim brakes, and as a bonus could swap them on my disc mtn bike in a pinch. Arrived true, and remain so, with no loosened spokes after a couple hundred miles.

Comments about Shimano Deore Disc/Rhyno Lite Wheelset:
I bought these wheels while I was a student, when price was probably the most important factor for me, however these wheels have held up exceptionally and still have a place on my XC hardtail. They are not the lightest wheels by any means but from a price/durability standpoint they can't be beat. I also like the fact that they can be used with either rim or disc brakes, so if you are looking to switch from rims to discs and are on a budget like I was they make an excellent stop-gap between the two.

Comments about Shimano Deore Disc/Rhyno Lite Wheelset:
Rims were recommended by friend who suggested xt hub, but these were cheaper. Others commented that the hubs needed to be greased, but mine rolled nicely out of the box. Seems very sturdy, a bit heavy, but I bought these wheels for my old steel mountain bike to a turing bike conversion. A few pounds here and there does not really matter...
Comments about Shimano Deore Disc/Rhyno Lite Wheelset:
I commute to work and put a lot of miles on my wheels in bumpy conditions (I'm 200 lbs). I don't need race wheels, but something that will last a while at a low price. I have not used these wheels long, but they held up well in a crash I had the first day I used them. I hit a large raccoon size rodent (nutria) at about 15 mph and landed on the pavement. A number of things were bent or broken, but the wheels were not bent. So they seem pretty sturdy.
Comments about Shimano Deore Disc/Rhyno Lite Wheelset:
On the first pair, the the cassette lockring ripped the threads out of the freehub body. Ok, well, I ordered a new set. It's shimano and sun. It works. Jenson needs to work on their customer service, took too many phone calls, non of them returned, and still waiting for the return credit.
