Great value in a 9 speed rear derailleur from Shimano. The Deore 510 handles up to a 34 tooth rear cog and uses flourine coated bushings, reducing link pin friction for reduced shifting effort.
Special 11-tooth pulley design means alternating contact between chain links, reducing wear and allowing the chain to run in a smoother manner. Aluminum and stainless steel construction keeps the derailleur lightweight and durable.

I am currently running this derailleur on my second bike and am very happy with it. The shifting may not be as crisp as with something like XTR or XO but overall I cant complain. I've also ran this on my DH bike in the past and it worked well and the nice thing was that I wasn't worried about trashing it as it doesn't cost a crazy amount to replace. I've rode it in dry, wet and snowy conditions and it works well in all of them.
Overall I am very happy and would recommend this product. Cant beat Shimano quality and the price is great too

I would not buy it...
I would not buy it for downhilling or jumping, but freeriding with it is just fine. I would rather get the Shimano XRC... that is more expensive but a better build part.

After about 15 years with my original STX-RC derailleur, I had to replace it. Now 15 years is along time for a derailleur to last, and if Shimano had still been making them, I wouldn't have hesitated. After a lot of research, I settled on the Deore. Great value, and solidly built to last. Weight is not a big consideration for me - a few grams heavier than the XT part is just fine. Deore is solid and smooth.
Great for a functional, riding bike that needs to work every day. will handle full range of front and rear gear sizes. Just works.
The bottom line is that this is a comfort bike level derailleur and is not appropriate for anyone who really wants/needs to be confident in the shifting action. As I stated before, this is going on my girlfriend's mountain bike. It'll be a good beginner/light use piece for sure, especially considering the price.I would give it a one star if it was over twenty bucks.
great product for riders on a budget and holds up well for the money. shifting is quite good for a budget part.
no problems. its being used on a trail bike so not to important to be Uber light. not quite race worthy though. get an XT if your racing
I am contacting Jenson to return this one as well, of course Jenson is always great about this kind of thing.
