Inspired by the top of the line M959 racing pedal, the M540 offers a similar sculpted body and minimalist axle design. The open body sheds mud easily and yields easy cleat entry and exit in all types of riding conditions. SPD® binding mechanisms on both sides of the pedal make entry fast and easy without the need for pedal flipping. Adjustable release tension lets you dial in the binding mechanism.
Package includes two pedals and Shimano SPD cleats.

quality pedal at a good price from jenson, use same pedals on my road bike, hard tail and ss 29er. Could I save a few grams on more expensive pedals?, sure I could, but who cares about a few grams, get these pedals
excellent pedal. Already use the 5 years and never had any problems with it. Recommend.elyandro[@]

I ride in various conditions and these pedals always work. Great design, no reason to not ride an non-SPD pedal.
Such a good price for a great product

I unequivocally recommend the PD-540 pedals. They take rock hits, sand, grit and keep on working. (I do not know much about mud-shedding as we don't have too much of that here.) I also suggest the SH-56 cleats if you like to get out of the clips in a hurry in tight situations. This combination has allowed me to try technical terrain without fear of injury. Buy 'em!

First time using clipless and this had been working great.

A solid pedal that will last forever. A bit on the heavy side but when you factor in the durability and the price of lighter options this pedal is a no brainer.
I got this pedal on sale. It was tough and durable. Worth every penny I spent. The downside is it is slightly heavier than other pedals, but hey, for what I paid, I am very happy with the product.
