This derailleur and the new XT disc brakes are the crown jewels of the group.
The derailleur provides easy, crisp and accurate shifting every time. The shadow design is awesome and genuinely helps avoid ripping the derailleur off on a rock or roots.
I have yet to try XTR, but I cannot imagine its rear derailleur provides any noticable difference (with exception of the new one-way clutch model).
I've trusted my rear shifting to XT throughout the years, from the 8 speed stuff, to the bullet proof M-750 9 speed stuff and now the 10 speed Dyna-Sys equipment.

I'm using this XT M780 rear der. with my XT shifter. works really well. I can't believe how smooth it is.
This beats my 2010 Sram x9 shifter by far. Some of the things I noticed are: faster shifting, and less tuning.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
