Upgrade from 2008 105 group.
For this price, and other than a new set of wheels this is the best $$ I have spent.
My only complaint is that the hoods are small and offer limited hand positions.

In all honesty, I can't complain about these shifters. They aer beautiful, light, and when mech'ed right, shift crist and accurately. However, because the shift cables run under the tape, you must be very dilligent about cable routing, elspecially with the rear der. The speedy crisp shifts of the 7800 group feel slightly mushier and slower due to the cable routing. Also bear in mind that bikes with internal cable routing add to this and complicate things further unless you use the hi-po slick cables...but if you want a super clean looking bike and are willing to tweak them, they will reward you.

There are many reasons why DuraAce 7900, when it was introduced was considered the best of the best. It's light, it's attractive, the shifting is absolutely spot-on, the redesigned body and adjustable reach means anyone's hands will enjoy the feel of these levers.
This side of electric shifting, these are absolutely hard to beat.
My only complaint — and I'm running an all-7900 system — is the feel of the small internal lever for shifting to smaller-sized cogs is: mushy. Soft. It doesn't have the snap of the large lever going "up the hill" to the larger diameter cassette cogs.
This feel takes nothing whatsoever away from the performance of these levers.
Is it precise? Absolutely. Will you miss less shifts than when you were using lesser-grade drivetrains? Yes. Will it probably outlast the frame you install them on? Also, yes.
But for the money and the carbon and the otherwise exceptional performance, I wish that inner throw was just a smidge quicker, and had a little more positive tactile feel.
Call me a heretic, but I actually believe my Ultegra levers had a better inner lever feel.

Picked this up on sale and couldn't be happier. Goes well with my Dura Ace drive train and the groupset has lightened my rig quite a bit. Shifters feel wonderful. Much better than my old 105 shifters. I have no complains and would buy these again!
