I like the design of the Shimano MTB crankset and BB. I like this BB as it is easy for a home mechanic to maintain and replace with only a single special tool. I've used a Shimano drivetrain on all my bikes, so I can't comment for comparison on durability. I tend to get around 1200-1500 miles out of the XT BBs that I have had.

This product is pretty good. It says it's not serviceable, but you can pop off the seals and relube the bearing. Don't overtighten.

Price was comparable...ordered enough stuff for free shipping....Direct replacement on my 2008 Jamis Dakar XAM 1.0. The first Bottom Bracket lasted 4 years through East Coast Mud and winters so I can't complain.
