Earlier iterations had multiple tiny pieces to hold in place during assembly. This version has fewer parts and is easier to install, yet it works as well as the old style. The real solution would be a band clamp on the derailleur that would cinch down over a wide range of tubing diameters, something similar to a worm-screw type hose clamp.

It might be better to just use strips of rubber to squeeze in between the FD and the frame as opposed to using these. I expected it to be an easy set up. Takes some figuring to get it to work.
