First of all, this kit is very complete. The added value of including the lube is a nice bonus.
It takes only about 2 minutes to scrub the chain and give the drive train a quick rinse but even just wiping down the chain to remove the cleaner works just as well. The way the unit wraps around the chain while cleaning and the wipers at the cleaner's end thoroughly remove all grit.
But that does require a bit of effort to move the chain through it, so I'd recommend putting the bike in a repair stand or another way to keep the bike stationary.
The only downside, is that the included amount of degreaser does not last very long, it will do about 5 chains or applications.

Chain cleaner used with the finish line degreaser works great. Takes me about 10 minutes to perform two clean-and-rinse cycles.

When I bought my bicycle over a year ago, I bought one of these kits to go along with it. I did this because of my experience with my last bike. I went through many chains with that old Mongoose, so when I bought the Giant, I decided that I would do something to better protect my investment. So far, my experience with the product that I bought at my local bike shop has saved me a lot of headaches.
