Although the Dominator is almost the same shoe as the road version, the Genius, these shoes aren't quite as good.

They both have many replaceable parts, which puts them head and shoulders over comparable shoes without replaceable parts. But the treads on the Dominator are not replaceable. Is this asking too much? Maybe. But it makes so much more sense to have replaceable tread on this shoe which is intended to be at that mid-point between walking and riding, than on the Genius which is only intended to duck-walk into the convenience store for a sports drink.

They look awesome. They are the most comfortable bike shoes I have worn. The buckle system had broke on me after only one season of use. Had to buy a replacement buckle so add that to the expense of the shoe. I have had this happen with Sidi road shoes also. If you ride a lot they start to show wear and tear pretty quick. Despite that they are so comfortable I just keep wearing them These shoes are pricey but I have gotten years of service out mine.

Comments about Sidi Dominator 5 MTB Shoe:

I've been using these for mountain biking for seven years, and have exactly zero complaints. The fit is perfect, they're comfortable enough to walk around the parking lot or hike over/around obstacles on the trail, and the top strap can be adjusted while riding. They're obviously not the cheapest shoes on the market, but they are absolutely worth it.

Comments about Sidi Dominator 5 MTB Shoe:

Everything is good except that the toe area and sides are easily torn. I tore mine when they were almost new. Found a product called Boot Guard which is like truck bed liner that you paint on workboots. Looks bad, we call it gorilla snot, but it does solve the tear problem. Have used the shoes for years now without any issues.

Comments about Sidi Dominator 5 MTB Shoe:

I couldn't afford a great pair of shoes for both mountain and road riding. Went with the Dominators and use mountain pedals on my road bike so I can wear these till I can get the road version. Use cleat supports so I don't ruin the sole, as it's not replaceable.

Comments about Sidi Dominator 5 MTB Shoe:

Really like these shoes, fit is great, but narrow like a road shoe, which is fine for me. Easy to walk on (which is why I use these on my road bike).

For a shoe this expensive, the tread should be replaceable. So far they have held up well (have 1000 miles on mine). They had better last several years though :)

For shoes and helmets I recommend trying on every one you can before you buy, you'll know when you found the right one.

The Sidis are my second pair of shoes replacing some entry level Shimanos. I knew I had found the right one when I forgot that I was still wearing them in the bike shop.

Firm on the pedals but very easy to walk in. easy to make minor adjustments while riding.

Sizing runs narrow like a road shoe.

Comments about Sidi Dominator 5 MTB Shoe:

I ordered these in a wide version and they felt like a normal width insole was placed in them. It slid around, felt lumpy and uncomfortable. I understand these are a higher end "race" style shoe and some comfort is lacking for weight reduction, but the fit and finish was no better than a shoe half it's price. Not impressed, stick to motorcycle boots...

Comments about Sidi Dominator 5 MTB Shoe:

I've used these shoes for urban riding for 4 years and they're the best I've used (compared to Merrell and Pearl Izumi shoes). The fit is great, especially once they're broken in. They feel super snug and secure, zero foot slippage. The only downside is that they're incredibly slippery on wet/hard tile floors. I've eaten it a few times. The price seems high, but my shoes are still in excellent condition despite daily riding for 4 years. You get what you pay for.
