I used to use stans but the dried "snot" that was left behind was not fun to clean off when changing out tires, so I tried this based upon a recommendation from someone else. very happy with the results
Slimed up Maxxis Downhill Tubes over cactus needles
I have been mountain biking in Sedona since the 90's and our slogan for the longest time was be slimmed or be left behind. I ride 2 ply Maxxis Downhill tires with Downhill Maxxis Tubes slimmed up and the only time I have changed my tubes in the last 10 years is when I changed out my Tires. I have ridden over Prickly pear cactus many of times and when they do actually puncture, one or two times of pumping up my tires filled the holes. I refuse to ride tubeless and handle the extra weight knowing I will never be left behind.
BEST USES: Commuting/City, Extreme Sports, Mountain Biking, Road Biking
It is difficult to adequately describe how useless this product is. I've been running Stan's in my tubeless bikes for years, but for my commuter with non-UST rims, I thought I'd play it safe and use tubes with Slime. Lots of Slime, like 8 ounces per wheel.Tires are Kenda K-Rad on Sun MTX33 rims. First day coming home from work, a small chunk of steel in the road cuts a 2mm hole dead-center on the tread and green stuff spews out all over the bike and me. I stop, spin the wheel until the hole is at the bottom at which point the rest of the useless green liquid escapes leaving the tire completely deflated. Walked the bike home and pulled the tire off expecting catastrophic tube damage. No; just a small hole that Stan's would have plugged so fast I probably wouldn't have even noticed. Never again. If I have to run tubes, I'll run them with Stan's. When that dries out, I'll throw the tube away and put in a new one with more Stan's. Slime is a complete waste of time, money and weight for no benefit.
