Comments about Sombrio Float Low Top Shoes:
After years of using 5.10 shoes I thought I would give the new Sombrio shoes a try for my downhill, freeride and trail riding needs.
The first thing i noticed about these shoes compared to the 5.10 is that these are a lot more comfortable both for causal and on bike wear. If you are doing a lot of hike-a-bike then these seem to offer a bit more comfort in the sole. Also these are quite a bit lighter than the 5.10s. The only negative of these is that these aren't as stiff around the sole meaning if you are rails turns with your feet out or dabbing your foot at high speed they dont offer as much protection as the 5.10s.
In terms of cleaning, the outside leather is very easy to clean after a long wet muddy day so you can have them looking as new after a quick wipe down.
I think these shoes are probably one of the most casual looking mountain bike shoes so if you like to wear them off the bike these are perfect.
The 5.10s are hard to beat in terms of the sticky rubber sole but these come close, they aren't as sticky as the 5.10 so they offer a bit more movement on the pedals but at the same time I have never slipt a pedal with these.
Overall I would highly recommend these for DH, freeride and any trail use.
