I upgraded my original drive-train to Shimano XT, but chose this SRAM chain instead of the Shimano equivalent. I had had a Shimano chain, but it had stretched and was rusting too easily. I'm glad I changed to SRAM. This is now over 2 years since installation, and the SRAM chain is still slick and shiny, with no rust or sticking. It takes the abuse of my hard riding, and has held up much better than the previous Shimano chain.

I will never ever buy another SRAM chain. I am an XC rider with a little hint of All Mountain riding, and granted, I do weigh about 235# and these chains brake! I have broken 3 SRAM chains on 2 different bikes now. I must confess I kept buying them because of the price, but no more. I have had the same problem with all of them, the plates seperate from the links. You can use a chain tool to put them back together but it wont last long. I am now running a Shimano XTR and have had no trouble with it. I suggest spending a little more for the XTR, your bike will love you for it!

Used the chain over a season and it's still working fine. For [$] it's a good deal. Not the lightest, but apparently durable. No complaints.

best chain for how much the price tag is. love this chain. what i;'ll be using for a long time
New Crank (SLX) and Cassette(SRAM PG 990) installed with this new chain. Broke the chain twice so far. Its fine for casual riding. If I really Get on it breaks easy. I weight 180. Mabey im just to huge for this chain...
The chain broke on me when I was riding up a slight hill. I've always used the 951s without a problem... New drive-train and all... The chain had less than 200km on it. Very disappointing. I recall going through a bad batch of SRAM chains about 10 years ago and it looks like they are repeating their mistakes...
First ride - 1 mile on street (break in).second - ride 10 miles trail (took it ez).third - 7 miles trail (was careful with shifting and torqing)fourth - 6.9 miles trail (forgot about it... broke)
terrible chain, i have bought better chain from wal mart. i would not recommend this chain to anyone. i would consider a shimano chain to use from now on
this chain snapped on the third month of use, i ride bootleg canyon in boulder city about twice a week and this chain snapped on me on a moderate climb. I almost fell off of the mtn. i don't think i will be purchasing another sram chain again...
This chain makes me wish the PC 99 was still available. I don't know where or why sram skimped but it is clear they did.
