Surly's BMX / Singlespeed cogs fit the (common) splines of Shimano/SRAM and Shimano-compatible freehub bodies - thats virtually every MTB hub on the market today. Built of practically indestructible hardened chromoly steel, these cogs are ready to lick up what you dish out. Larger sizes include drillings to save weight.

Intelligent design which includes being able to better align the cog with the chain line depending upon which side you have facing outward. Longer teeth help to minimize the incidence of slippage and maximize chain wrap. Larger sizes have been drilled (see picture) to reduce weight penalty. Mating surface of cog to free hub has a wider contact patch thus reducing the potential of shearing and damaging your free hub.

Comments about Surly Single Speed Cog:
The Surly cog is the only way to go in my book. Cheaper than a lot of other cogs, a heck of a lot stronger than aluminum cogs (I've sheared teeth off of two seperate aluminum cogs, will never go that route again) Nothing better than an all steel drivetrain for SS use. You can't go wrong with this setup.

Comments about Surly Single Speed Cog:
I bought this 21t to switch-out a 20t I've been riding (hard)for the last 3-years. Looking at the old cog next to the new cog -- there was absolutely no wear on the old cog. I do not beleive you can wear these things out!!

Comments about Surly Single Speed Cog:
I have a set if Surly cogs from 18T-22T and have done thousands of miles on them(esepecially my 21T)including lots of mud riding. They barely look used. I like how the teeth are slightly offset to one side, so you can reverse to get the chain line perfect if you don't quite have all the spacers you need.

Comments about Surly Single Speed Cog:
The wide base of the cog prevents damage to your hub's splines, and the gear material holds up to abuse.

Comments about Surly Single Speed Cog:
Upgraded from the stock cog on my Fisher Rig, impressed at how much more solid this Surly feels. Well worth the money for this upgrade.
Comments about Surly Single Speed Cog:
I love metal and things shaped like gears so this was perfect. Also, it took my 20 tooth rear cog down to 18 to give my single geared bike more pedal resistance which was nice.

Comments about Surly Single Speed Cog:
These cogs are well made. The fit is precise, and the extra wide offset center keeps the cog stable on the hub. The offset also allows for additional fine tuning of the chainline.

Comments about Surly Single Speed Cog:
I have not used any other cogs to compare them to, but these work so well I probably won't anyway.
