These brakes were on my xc rig. I recently purchased a set of hayes stroker rydes for my new bike. the tektro brakes seem stiffer, and the levers feel more solid than the hayes.

These brakes came on one of my bikes and I have to upgrade. They worked all right for the first year of riding, then the front brake lever leaked all the fluid. While I was replacing the hose, the threads pulled out. Now I am upgrading to better brakes. If they never leaked, I would have waited a while to upgrade them.

I bought these brakes for an Origin 8 Scout 29er build- the bike was only $300 complete (and new!) and I wanted to get rid of the Avid BB5's. The Tektro Auriga Comp disc brake set was installed in under an hour and worked flawlessly out of the box. There was a little burn in period of about 50 miles on the 180mm rotor, but after that no rubbing. A great first project too, if you're new at working on your bike!

No reason to change the brakes, strong at very aggressive runs, easy maintenance, very good look and the most important: reliable.

Basic, simple, reliable. (Simple, reliable. Mounted, am weighing in at 215lbs and have run some pretty steep long run downhill sections and these brakes hold me reliably. I ride pretty aggressive on very hilly terrain and don't see a reason to change brakes yet.)
