I was very impressed when I received these brakes. They're a reasonably priced choice, in a market of brakes priced WAY TO HIGH. Don't waste your money on bling. You can't fill that void with overpriced, overengineered, fanciness. These have a smooth feel, powerful performance, and not chatter at all. Granted, I used a fork mounted cable hanger (tektro as well), which you should consider if you've ever had brake squeal. I've put a couple hundred miles on them and they're still perfectly set up.

Decent brakes for the money
Bought these to replace the Tektro Oryx brakes that came stock with my Masi CX bike (Oryx are about the only cantis going that are even cheaper in price than these ones).

Bought these to replace the Tektro Oryx brakes that came stock with my Masi CX bike (Oryx are about the only cantis going that are even cheaper in price than these ones).
So far these have been a marginal upgrade. The major benefit to this point is that they are less fiddly to set up than the Oryx brakes, more easily adjusted, and don't seem nearly as prone to chatter or squealing.
Given the way the brake arms are set up, I would have expected more power out of them, but they have no more braking power than the Oryx line. I'm keen to try these with kool stop salmon pads, as the stock pads, while okay I guess, are pretty weak in any kind of wet weather - they seem to be able to slow the bike alright, but bringing it to a complete halt is another matter, which is odd.
Still, for the price, not too shabby. If you're thinking of doing what other reviewers have done, and decide to pick up some kool stop salmon pads, be aware that that you'll need the kool stop pads with the narrower stem (the stem comes in two sizes as far as I understand it - the thicker stem will not pass through the hole on these brakes).

Comments about Tektro CR720 Cantilever Brake:
Nice improvement over lousy Avid Shorty 4 brakes that had weaker stopping power and were noisy. Install was easy and noises were eliminated. They happen to look nice despite being affordable. First time I installed cantilevers and included instructions were clear.

Great brake for the money. Buy some Kool Stop salmons at the same time and you get a great set of Cx brakes for ~$50. Only negative is that of of the spring tension allen bolts used to adjust the tension of each spring burred off.

VALUE VALUE VALUE VALUE
For the money it does NOT get any better than this. If you are looking for some cantis for your cross bike than pick these! I would suggest them even over the most expensive canti brakes. You cant beat the prie. You are getting top of the line quality, and durability.
The price was so good, and I was so happy with this product that I bought an extra one just to have!

I picked these up over a year ago. So far, I have nothing to complain about. Once they are set up, they work very well and have held up for a few CX season. I like the road brake shoes, so I can use any one of the compounds that are available.

Comments about Tektro CR720 Cantilever Brake:
These were easy to install on my commuter (Surly Cross Check). It was a budget build, but these perform like $90 cantis. Can't go wrong with these if you're only using your bike to commute. Haven't gone trail riding so I can't tell you how they handle mud, but I couldn't say these wouldn't be able to handle it.
Comments about Tektro CR720 Cantilever Brake:
after replacing front pads to yellow from black , it made no difference in braking well.lowering the cable to try to get as close to the 90* linkwire requirement , was an improvement , but since the mechanical advantage of these cantis are much less than v-brakes , i've given up & going back to V's that work perfectly for years at 100 times the stopping ability.
Comments about Tektro CR720 Cantilever Brake:
I picked up these brakes for my build a few months back and they work well. I'm a heavy rider and these brakes have enough power to stop the bike on steep descents even at speeds above 40mph. I'd love to have Discs but these are a good compromise for weight savings.
Comments about Tektro CR720 Cantilever Brake:
If your canti brakes squeal, look no further... this brake will fix your problems. Low profile cantis can probably be tuned by an expert mechanic to work well, but these are so much less fussy, nearly as easy to work with as V-Brakes. I almost sprung for the Paul Neo-Retro, but this is pretty much the same design at 1/3 the cost. But chuck the pads that come with it.
