The Panaracer FireXC Pro is an older tire now but it still performs well. They are a lower volume tire in the modern tire world (they were not at release time) so compared to a Nevegal or Continental of comparable size you will need to run with more pressure and a harder ride. They are also narrower than most of the modern 2.1 tires.

The performance is great - I feel every bit as good as Nevegals. They have better puncture resistance than Nevegals as well.

Ultimately, the FireXC is a tire whose "prime" time has come and gone but that doesn't stop it from being a solid performer as it has always been.

Comments about Panaracer Fire XC Pro Tire:

The tire was difficult to seat around the rim. The fit was something I'd expect from a tubeless tire. Very tight at the bead. Soap and water was used and the tire fit without damaging the tube.

I am suggesting soap, water, and a plastic mounting tool with the rider to fix flats. I am replacing an old Panaracer Fire XC Pro 26x2.1 and this was not an issue. The tire is a good product.

Picked up 2 of these to replace my stock tires on my XC mountain bike. I'm thoroughly impressed by the traction and durability of these tires. They are relatively light weight, and the red sidewalls look awesome.

Comments about Panaracer Fire XC Pro Tire:

After trying several different brands and styles of tires I purchased a set of Panaracer Fire XC pro tires and I don't regret it. After about half a season of riding I can find nothing negative to say about these tires. I'm on the bigger side and also on the reckless side of mountain bikers but have had no issues with punctures on these tires, even after countless times of accidentally leaving the trail. These tires far outperform my capabilities; I've never been for a loss of traction while riding these tires at my favorite tracks.

Comments about Panaracer Fire XC Pro Tire:

I picked up my first real mountain bike late last fall, a Trek Fuel EX. The stock tires weren't much to talk about and left me scared to take a corner as fast as my years of riding MX would allow. So while off during the winter I read 50-11 tire reviews and settled in on the Panaracer Fire XC Pro and made sure to get the good version with the 127TPI rather than the cheaper version you read so many complaints about. I was so ready to ride come March when the weather began to cooperate. It only took a few rides to realize these tires had something special going on. Despite running them with tubes, I was still able to get by with running around 30PSI and not experience pinch flats. That's riding aggressively downhill over rocks and roots. They even bit the ground and wouldn't lose traction when going up hill over rocks and roots. The lower pressure helped smooth out my ride and between the better feel and traction I began to set one PR after the other on Strava. I even earned a few KOM spots with these beauties underneath me. With ~400 miles on these tires so far and very little wear showing, I predict a long and love-filled relationship between them and myself. Pick up a set for yourself, save a few bucks while doing it, then fall in love with their capabilities that have garnered them one of the all-time highest and most rated tires ever produced.

Comments about Panaracer Fire XC Pro Tire:

I have ridden on Panaracer tires for over 24 years and these specific XC Pro Kevlar bead tires for over 15 years. I just bought another set to finally replace my worn out ones. They simply last and last and with the exception of heavy mud/caliche, they perform very well in almost all conditions. Adjusting the pressure for the conditions really brings out the awesome performance capability.

Comments about Panaracer Fire XC Pro Tire:

I have had 2 sets of these tires. I got about 1500 miles out of my first set, riding about 75% on the road (commuting), and 25% all-mountain riding. These are long-lasting tires with very good grip on the pavement and on trails. They are good on hardpack, mud, rocks, and over small roots. The only place these tires are lacking is when it comes to gravel/loose rock. These tires are a proven design, and are WELL WORTH the higher cost that they usually command.

Comments about Panaracer Fire XC Pro Tire:

Love the versatility of these tires. The trails around here have a pretty big variety of dirt, from sand to gravel to mud to rocks. These tires with a pound or two adjustment of pressure in the tubes conquer it all, except for climbs with heavy mud where deeper grooves and larger knobbies would be better. Not sure I would trust the front on an aggressive downhill, either, for the same reason - a more appropriate tire with larger side plugs would be better.
