I was having a ton of carpal-tunnel induced numbness on my bike, and had been trying all sorts of things to reduce it (Ergon grips, riser bars, adjustable stem). Saw a recommendation for these wrist guards and decided to give them a try, after comparing it alongside several other brands. The TLD 5205 seems to be the beefiest guard and that was the factor that made the decision for me.

Tested it out once I received it (quick shipping!!) and found that it the wrist bracing is firm and strong, and it actually reduced my carpal tunnel symptoms by a great deal. Putting on a padded glove under the guard made it work even better.

The brace is not uncomfortable - actually stopped noticing it after a while. I'm now even wearing it to bed (Doc's orders) since I have been experiencing similar CTS symptoms during sleep. The numbness is now gone!

Really happy with this wrist support.

I was a little confused about sizing at first, but if you order it to match your glove size (i.e. same size as your gloves) it fits perfectly.

Good protection for forearm. No protection for the carpal bones. Fractures in long bones heal well. Fractures in joints do not heal well. The carpal bones are covered with joints. This guard can be modified and would be 5 star if they do. But if you are buying a wrist guard, you want it not just to prevent fractures, but in particular to prevent fractures that cause lifelong pain and arthritis. This splint needs scaphoid protection. I actually modified mine using foam from a competitor's splint and it works fairly decent now. The scaphoid is that big bone you feel at the base of your thumb - put in an insert that covers that bone and this splint is a 5 star splint.

Comments about Troy Lee Designs WS5205 Wrist Support:

I bought the TLD Wrist Brace after a recent sprain while trail riding. Got me back in the bike much sooner than I thought. Very comfortable and supportive. It's my new best trail buddy, OK my dog is, but this comes a close second!

Comments about Troy Lee Designs WS5205 Wrist Support:

I like this one so much that i'm considering picking up one for my left hand too. This wrist support has everything on my wish list - supportive, adjustable, comfortable and able to be worn with gloves.

I went over the bars a few weeks ago and had my hand immobilized in a splint for 4 weeks. I wanted something that would protect my wrist from hyperextending while my grade 2 sprain heals. I tried wrist support for the first time today and am impressed. I had no pain while mountain biking over roots and rocks for 2 hours and my wrist feels great. I couldn't even tolerate road riding before this support arrived in my mailbox. I'm very happy with this purchase!

Comments about Troy Lee Designs WS5205 Wrist Support:

I use both left and right braces while biking, mainly at Trestle bike park for support during freeriding. I broke my wrist last year which messed up my tendons. The braces work very well for adding compression around the entire wrist. They have stiff inserts at the top of the wrist to prevent your wrist from bending backwards too much, which works well. The only downside is the thumb strap can cut into your hand a bit if you tighten it too much.

10 years back I broke my wrist horse back riding and screwed myself with unemployment. Any feeling of restriction the wrist guard is thought to have, (it's slight and I agreed with other reviews "you don't notice it"), was more mentally positive for me than an annoying. It's protective and what I wanted. Works great and your palm is comfortable on the bars.

Comments about Troy Lee Designs WS5205 Wrist Support:

After suffering injures on both wrist in one season, I needed wrist support to continue riding while my wrist healed. I bought these TLD WS5205 and 661 wrist supports. The TLD WS5205 fit me better and are true to size.

I wore this under Fox Bomber gloves at Mammoth and Cannell Plunge. There are four removable plastic supports to customize desired support. Yes, it restricts movement as it is design to do. However, after 10mins of riding, I forgot I was wearing it.

The only minor gripe is the minor chafing. It maybe caused by my glove/support combo.
